About this property

Bronllys 1.7 miles. Tucked away in an idyllic location close to the village of Bronllys, in between Brecon and Hay-on-Wye, is this detached abode, Meadow Cottage. Offering stunning views of the Black Mountain and Bannau Brychein (Brecon Beacons), Meadow Cottage is a wonderful escape for a family of six looking to escape to this beautiful region of Wales. The living/dining room offers a light and airy feel, inviting you to settle down after a day of fell walking, with two sofas and a TV for entertainment. Move into the kitchen/diner, where you can show off your culinary skills as you create a hearty dish, to be enjoyed at the dining table or out on the decking. Find the first bedroom on the ground floor, equipped with a double bed, whilst upstairs offers a king-size and a twin, each neutrally presented. Start the morning with a refreshing rinse in the bathroom, choosing between a bath or shower over. The surrounding grounds are idyllic, providing a wealth of walking routes, including two long distance footpaths, namely Offa’s Dyke Path and the Wye Valley Walk, both with stunning scenery of the beautiful border country. There are two pubs just north of the cottage, Railway Restaurant and The Old Barn Inn, whilst the village of Bronllys offers a convenience store in a garage, a café and the historic Bronllys Castle. The Brecon Beacons National Park provides endless outdoor opportunities, from kayaking on Llangors Lake, horse riding through the stunning terrain as well as hiking the peaks of Waun Fach and Pen y Fan for those seeking a challenge. Head to the town of Brecon, boasting beautiful Georgian and Jacobean architecture and home to the Brecon Jazz Festival in the summer. Escape the hustle and bustle of normality and spend some time at Meadow Cottage. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1118225 and 1145295 , together sleeping 14 guests.

The charming village of Bronllys sits in Powys between the towns of Brecon and Talgarth; despite being rather small, the village offers a swimming pool, leisure centre, a post office and the delightful Bronllys Castle, dating back to 1100. Close by in Three Cocks, you’ll find the Old Railway Line Garden Centre, voted the best garden centre in the UK, in addition to The Old Barn Inn Restaurant where you can indulge a hearty meal on the nights you don’t feel like cooking! Travelling on to the Welsh Market town of Hay-on-Wye discover Hay Castle, a vibrant centre for arts, literature and learning; you can also enjoy the annual Hay Festival if your trip aligns or take a relaxing stroll along the River Wye which stretches an impressive 134 miles from its source to the Severn estuary. Acting as a gateway to the stunning surroundings of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Bronllys is an ideal base for enjoying an abundance of walking, cycling and hiking opportunities including the challenging summit of Pen y Fan; for a more adrenaline-fuelled activity, travel to Llangors Lake where you can try your hand at a range of watersports such as kayaking, canoeing and windsurfing, or discover the treasures of the Black Mountain Range and Fforest Fawr. A lovely area to relish a getaway in Mid Wales.

We would be very happy to stay again.

Clean and tidy. Soft furnishings (sofas, matresses) would benefit from an upgrade but they're all perfectly functional. Some road noise as the house is quite close to a surprisingly busy road. Lovely grass area to use and a nice view across the valley. Valley direction there was no unwanted noise at all. Some smells from the farming but that's to be expected. The house was difficult to find but the owner was really helpful guiding us there.
