What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Colin Baker - Verified booking

Lovely hosts and lovely cottages. Some improvements that might help but not essential. Location would be 5 if there were better pathed foot and dog walks on the farmland itself - these are easy to create around the hedge lines. The velux blinds in the main bedroom were broken and would be useful to fix (especially in this unusual heat) For this particular cottage there appears to be no specific rear or exterior seating whereas the two adjoining cottages did have rear seating . In this unusual heat it would be useful in the future to have stand up fans supplied for each bedroom . These really are nice to haves and are polite suggestions only. The farm is lovely and so much to do within 20 mins drive and I would stay again but probably in one of their bigger cottages with outside seating. We had a young baby girl (4 months) and a large young active dog (used to long off lead walks) and the suggestions made are because of that. Hope this helps and than you to our hosts and to best of wales for all being very helpful .

We arrived at the property after travelling over 7 hours.

Deeply disappointed with the location and state of the property. Lots of items not working dirty and poorly maintained and grubby. Contacted the owner when first having issues…. No reply. However did reply immediately when I text the following morning stating we had left the morning after arriving. Having had to book alternative accommodation. Yes it was that bad! Beds were very uncomfortable, springs totally shot, shower dirty with mould and not working. Properly on a very busy road with single glazed windows in disrepair, a graveyard as a back garden. Got no more than 2 hours sleep that night. Best thing about this property was the new kettle and toaster. Have made a formal complaint to Sykes over a week ago and yet to have any response. I have used Sykes many times before but have to say I will not be using them again. Deeply disappointed ☹️

It was the one of the best times of our lives and can't thank Best of Wales and the property owners for the wonderful time we had

We found the cottage easily and impressed beautiful the cottage it is but most importantly how generous and kind the owner, Keri was. The accommodation was ideal for a nice break away and we are already planning on booking in the very near future

I'd strongly recommend booking for more than just the weekend - two days just flew by which was a real shame. The Usk & Railway Inn down at Sennybridge provided a lovely meal and the walk through the town was very nice. The Tanner Arms in the local village Defynnog - one we'll be looking forward to visiting next time.

Penderyn Brecon Beacons Distillery / The Welsh Whisky Co Ltd

In the foothills of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales, Penderyn Distillery produces award-winning single malt whiskies and spirits. A visitor centre offers tours of the distillery and a tasting bar where you can try some of its products. Not suitable for children. Alternative route available for wheelchair users. Shop and bar.

    Tretower Castle & Court

This architectural wonder spans 900 years of history. Tretower is two wonders in one as just across the castle green lies an entire medieval court that became a byword for magnificence. You'll find the great hall set up just as if it were for a lavish feast in the 1460s. A recreated 15th century garden contains fragrant white roses that represent Sir Roger's passionate Yorkist sympathies. Mostly accessible for wheelchair users, dogs on leads welcome, gift shop, refreshments, picnic tables, toilets, child friendly.

    Pen y Fan

Pen y Fan is one of the most popular walks in Wales. When the weather is fine, the views are truly splendid, with mile upon mile of rolling hills. There are marked trails on the walk, so please stick to these and take care - some sections are steep and the drop at the top is sheer. Take a look at the 'Visit Wales' website for more information - it features the Pen y Fan walk among others.

    Henrhyd Waterfall

Henrhyd Waterfall, located in the scenic Brecon Beacons, is a must-visit for holidaymakers seeking natural beauty. Standing at 90ft tall, it's the tallest waterfall in South Wales. Explore the enchanting woodland trail and immerse yourself in the breathtaking scenery. Address: Dol Henrhyd, Coelbren, Neath SA10 9PG
