Rhayader 4.8 miles. Just outside the small market town of Rhayader is this lovely detached cottage, Green Cottage, enjoying beautiful scenery and a fantastic location for exploring the Elan Valley. Within this property you can discover a good-sized kitchen, home to all the appliances you need during your stay including a fridge/freezer, electric oven and hob, with the utility room next door hosting a washing machine too. Move into the open-plan living room/diner, offering a formal space to enjoy a home-cooked meal, when you're not dining out, and a homely atmosphere to relax in on the plush seating as you're warmed by the woodburning stove, and entertained by the Smart TV. The ground floor features the excellent wet room, while upstairs you can find the two bedrooms; a double and a twin, both with the added benefit of a TV and beautiful views of the countryside from the windows. Step outside and enjoy the use of the enclosed garden, with a lawn and a patio, you can sit out on the outdoor furniture in nice weather, and you can store bikes in the storage available here too. The local pub is visible from the driveway, offering a perfect way to end the day with a satisfying drink, while the closest shops for your food and essentials can be found in the town centre of Rhayader, less than five miles away. You are perfectly situated to explore the amazing Elan Valley; marvel at the dams, reservoirs and 73-mile aqueduct built over a hundred years ago, or traverse the terrain to spot some wildlife in their natural habitats. The Elan Estate has been awarded an International Dark Sky Award for those budding stargazers, and is also filled with a wealth of nocturnal wildlife too. Cyclists can enjoy following the Elan Valley Trail, ideal for families too, with lots of walking routes available too, and anglers can enjoy a spot of fishing with a permit. Fridge seals mouldy also. Grimy bathroom floor , no extractor fan contributing to mould. Toilet soil pipe leaks over the floor. Stair carpet full of dog hair we took our own hoover and brush was covered. Broken loose slabs on steps in the garden. Bed uncomfortable feels like it is going to collapse. Left the property early as couldn't stand the damp making us unwell. Owner and Sykes cottages have been given the opportunity to resolve the issue . We have Sent all photographic evidence Yet have not been offered any reimbursement. Sykes have admitted there are health and safety issues but are still taking bookings for the property. Very sad being as this was our second visit to the property did not expect to find it on this occasion in such bad state of repair.

This cottage provides almost everything you need whilst away on holiday. After a long dayâs walking in the Elan Valley, the least you expect is Comfortable sofaâs to relax on during the evening. Previous Reviews reveal the same commentsâ¦â¦ The sofas are extremely Uncomfortable. But all in all, If comfortable furniture was available, We would return. Will not return, with existing sofaâs. A night light is required on the stairs for visits to the downstairs loo at night ( health & safety. Overall we give a 7/10.

Really nice cottage, reminded of my chilhood home, everything you needed and nothing you did'nt, situated in a lovely area, the Elan Valley is stunning for walks with the dogs, friendy owners and friendy nieghbours, if you want scenery, peace and tranquility and like to watch red kites with brilliant walking on your doorstep this is the place, Many thanks
