Guests say

The cottage in Caernarfon offers a pleasant stay with its comfortable bedrooms and stunning views. Its proximity to local amenities and attractions in North Wales & Snowdonia is appreciated by guests. While some find the property cosy and well-equipped, others suggest it could benefit from further care and attention to detail.

Guests have reported issues with cleanliness, including rubbish in the outdoor area, dog waste in the garden, and cobwebs throughout the property. The presence of mould and a general need for a thorough clean have been noted.

The property's location is highly praised for its proximity to the village, local peaks, and overall convenience for exploring Snowdonia, making it a great base for holidaymakers.

While the bedrooms are described as comfortable, guests have found the living room seating to be uncomfortable. The garden offers a lovely space to relax, although it requires maintenance to ensure safety and comfort.

The property is equipped with the basics, but guests have reported maintenance issues such as a faulty door lock, a need for guttering repairs, and a fireplace that doesn't function properly. The kitchen is well-equipped, but the property shows signs of dampness and wear.

There is insufficient information to assess thoughtfulness as there are no specific mentions of gifts or special touches provided by the hosts, aside from a mention of wood for the fire which was deemed insufficient.

About this property

5 Gwynant Street, a delightful stone cottage, settled within the bustling North Wales village of Beddgelert, in the heart of Snowdonia National Park. Boasting incredible mountain views from its elevated terrace garden, this property is ideal for a couple or small family who want nothing more than to explore the magnificent national park and take advantage of the plethora of walking opportunities that surround the property. Make your way inside to discover a charming living/dining room, offering a mix of traditional and contemporary features, with slate tiled flooring and wooden beams, complimented by a leather sofa and Smart TV, so you can spend evenings snuggled up together enjoying a film as the warmth of the woodburning stove creates a cosy ambiance. The dining table provides a spot to enjoy meals together, lovingly prepared in the compact but well-equipped kitchen, that stands just three steps up from the dining area and looks out onto the rear of the property. Head outside through the stable door and up a set of steps to find the first of two terraces, while the impressive sun trap decking area rests above both and offers a seating area where you can kick back with a morning coffee and soak up the incredible mountain view whilst enjoying the tranquil sounds of wildlife inhabiting the private land that sits just behind. Back inside the property, make your way up the staircase to find the double bedroom, where you can catch up on rest and enjoy the distant mountain view from the sash window. A further three steps up lead to an immaculate twin bedroom that overlooks the garden and would be ideal for children, while both bedrooms are served by an all-white family bathroom suite. The village of Beddgelert boasts an impressive selection of shops for picking up any essential items, as well as gift shops, arts and crafts stores and ice cream parlours, plus a range of pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and cafés, all idyllically situated beside the Afon Glaslyn. Take a stroll beside the river towards the National Trust's Aberglaslyn Nature Reserve and Aberglaslyn Pass, a stunning gorge thought to be one of the best beauty spots in North Wales. Be sure to pay a visit to Gelert's Grave, a statue and tombstone of the loyal hound of Prince Llewelyn the Great, which is very much the centrepiece of the village. Take advantage of your location at the foot of Mount Snowdon, Wales' highest peak, to embark upon a plethora of walking trails, including Watkin Path, the National Trust's Craflwyn and Beddgelert and the hiking area of Dinas Emrys, while a hike up Snowdon itself provides the ultimate challenge, along with the reward of breath-taking views from its summit. There are plenty of opportunities for cycling and mountain biking, should you prefer to explore your setting on two wheels, while the Welsh Highland Steam Railway allows you to enjoy the view from the comfort of a steam train, making its way through the centre of the village on its journey between Porthmadog and the royal town of Caernarfon, where you will find an impressive 13th century medieval castle resting on the waterfront. Just a short distance from Caernarfon is the Iron Age settlement of Dinas Dinlle, where you can spend a fantastic day beside the sea at its impressive Blue Flag-awarded beach. The Llyn Peninsula AONB is within driving distance and is a haven for walkers, wildlife lovers and watersports enthusiasts alike, who flock to this haven of natural beauty to be wowed by long stretches of coastline, rolling countryside and impressive Iron Age forts. 5 Gwynant Street is an incredible base for exploring the coast and countryside of North Wales.

A leisurely stroll along the river will take you to the Aberglaslyn Pass, one of North Wales’s most famous beauty spots. The Welsh Highland Steam Railway passes through the village on its journey from Porthmadog to Caernarfon. Beddgelert is famed for its monument to the Welsh Prince Llewelyn's dog, whom the Prince killed thinking it had attacked and killed his son, only to discover afterwards it had been defending his son from a savage wolf attack. From here, you can easily access Porthmadog, home to a Maritime Museum, the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway, the Black Rock Llamas, and Porthmadog Golf Club, as well as Borth y Gest, where you can hike along the Beach Path, spend a day at the beach, and dine at the popular Black Rock Beach Club with stunning sea views, onwards to the Llyn Peninsula and beyond, this is an ideal location for a Welsh holiday.

Cosy, clean and well maintained. Thought it was a little odd there was no heatproof glove to use with log burner. Settee comfy to nap on uncomfortable to sit on with such a low back. We used the chairs which were very comfortable. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends . Lovely cottage.

It was comfortable, clean and tidy, perfect for my needs. I liked sitting in front of the fire stove while reading, and a good view from the deck on days without rain. I will come back to beddgelert again and will stay in the same cottage.
