What our customers say about their holidays

    • Sarah - Verified booking

We booked very last minute so got a fantastic price so cant complain!

Best bits: The location of the flat is absolutely fabulous, with sea views and on the coastal walk to the beaches and headlands - LOCATION for me was the selling point. We LOVED the area - very friendly locals. The flat was lovely and warm on arrival. VERY well equipped for self-catering and as nothing is open in St Abbs after 4pm for food(over the new year period) we were glad the kitchen was just like being at home. Comfy bed and comfy sofas More spacious than the photos do it justice! Just the 2 of us, but would be plenty of space for a family of 4. Loved the Christmas tree left for our arrival - really nice touch. Areas for improvement: No welcome pack- understand Covid has it's downfalls but it wouldnt have taken much to leave a wiped down bottle of milk in the fridge. Cleanliness - the bedding and towels were all lovely and clean, as was the furniture, but way too many cobwebs on the walls and ceilings. The car parking area needs to be tidied up, the front garden is beautifully kept so its a shame when you park up at the back you get a completely different aspect! The heating was VERY warm so we had to open windows - as couldn't see a thermostat anywhere. It was unseasonably warm though!

We really enjoyed our stay in this little hideaway.

The views are stunning, the hot-tub is a real treat and the peace and quiet is wonderful. The surrounding area is beautiful and there are plenty of places to walk or bike, depending on your preference. There are also lots of places to visit within a reasonable distance. Considering how secluded the property is, it's actually really not that far from a major road, so it feels very accessible. The owners were incredibly helpful and despite the close proximity of their house, we never felt intruded upon. The only slight negatives would be the cramped bedrooms and bathroom. Don't get me wrong, this place has been designed very carefully to make maximum use of the space, but we have quite a few bruises from knocking into furniture. It wasn't enough to dampen our enthusiasm, but if the outside space hadn't been there (the deck is sheltered so you can sit out even when it rains) I think we'd have felt pretty claustrophobic. That being said, we knew it would be compact when we booked as the listing and photos give you a good idea of what to expect.

What a wonderful week we had staying at The Rest.

The location is stunning. A 5 minute walk to the harbour or 10 minutes to the beach. We used the cottage as a base to explore the borders area and into England too, visiting Bamburgh ( best coffee of the week at the Copperkettle - dogs allowed in the courtyard), Holy Island, Berwick on Tweed, North Berwick (best fruit scone of the week at the cafe in the seabird centre -dogs allowed in and out and delicious lunch from the lobster shack in the harbour), Eyemouth (we ate at The Ship twice - best in town - dogs allowed in the bar), Paxton House as well as St Abbs and Coldingham. The property is bigger than the photos suggest and was perfect for 3 adults and a dog. Well equipped, warm and cosy too although we opted to turn the heating off. The beds could do with a memory foam topper for extra comfort - these bones did a lot of walking! Joanna is a welcoming and helpful host. Its the first time we’ve gone somewhere and thought we would really love to come back. Everyone was genuinely friendly and helpful. Thank you St Abbs /New Asgard

The apartment was exceptionally well-appointed, clean and spacious, with wonderful views and a lovely sitting out area with picnic benches in front of the house.

The kitchen was generously equipped with nice cockery, cutlery and glasswear, and the cooking utensils provided were excellent. We enjoyed the sense of spaciousness in all the rooms and the high standard of furnishings and decor throughout. We were warmly welcomed and settled in and simply cannot recommend Ceol na Mara highly enough. I have personally stayed in many cottages on Skye over the past twenty years or so and can honestly say this is one of the very best. The campsite area is very well managed and simply does not intrude on the privacy of the apartment in any way, We have thoroughly enjoyed our time there and were very reluctant to leave when the time came to return home. Our thanks to the friendly and efficient owners who have done so much to provide a really great base for the holidaymakers who stay with them.

      Hello, this is Bing.

I can help you improve your message. Here is a possible revision: I enjoyed a wonderful stay at this lovely cottage in St. Abbs, on the Scottish borders. The cottage was spotless and cosy, with everything I could need. It felt like a home away from home. The cottage was surrounded by stunning views that added to the tranquillity of the place. I loved waking up to the scenic landscapes of the Scottish borders. The owner had a great eye for detail in the well-kept interior and the fun games they provided. The best part, though, was the warm hospitality of the owner. They were friendly and helpful, making sure I had a comfortable stay. I will never forget their kindness. I highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway with excellent amenities and a touch of Scottish charm.
