What our customers say about their holidays

    • Louis - Verified booking

While the location is excellent, it’s clear that the letting company only refurbished the main room and the rest of the flat is very dated.

The kitchen is probably 20 years old but functional although the oven, which is horrendously cheap is totally useless….it took nearly 2 hours to roast some vegetables at full power. The bathroom is in desperate need of replacement, the Lino is grubby and the roof has odd yellow marks all over it, a lot of the furniture is corroded and the shower rail was lose when we were there so would quite often fall out of the braket…when looking at the folder in the flat, the gas safety cert had also expired in January! Other obvious problems is that the flat has a very obvious carpet moth infestation…they were everywhere and kept flying around in the evening …we had a 3 month old baby so didn’t really want someone turning up and randomly spraying chemicals around so didn’t report it . Is grim and it’s clear it’s been an issue for a while as there’s moth dust marks around the property Finally and probably the most annoying is the walls and floors are paper thin and the upstairs tenant doesn’t seem to care…on the Saturday we were there at 2am he decided to put his stereo on full blast and we had similar events through the week where you’d hear shouting and talking and much more (!) till the early hours.

A beautiful, well-equipped apartment with fantastic view of the sea.

We had a wonderful relaxed week's stay at Breakwater, as it felt a lot of thought had gone into the choice of furnishing and decor. The property was exceptionally clean on arrival and offered everything a family could possibly need for their stay, including Netflix and good wifi connection. The corridor sofa with extra TV and PS3 was a welcomed surprise for our 12 year old son too. The 1-hour parking bay outside the house meant it was easy to load and unload on arrival and departure. We enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking on Seaton Beach and loved the Hideaway cafe at the end of Seaton Esplanade. Seafield Gardens next to the apartment has a well maintained crazy golf course, tennis courts and children's play area. We found that Seaton is a great base to explore other towns in Devon/Dorset too. We spent a day on the beach in Sidmouth and Hive Beach, near Burton Bradstock, with lots of evenings in Lyme Regis where so many restaurants offer exceptional food. Our favourites were Lilac, offering exquisite tapas style sharing dishes, and The Oyster and Fish House, where you can sit outside in the warm weather and watch the sun go down over the bay. We had a fantastic time and would happily stay here again.

This is a lovely apartment well decorated with a black and white theme and retention of some period features.

Car parking is in a public car park some 2 mins walk away. There are close to the property short stay bays of 30 minutes and we used these to load and unload the car. The apartment is one of three in a building which has commercial premises at ground level. Under apartment 2 was a Taste of Devon butcher. We had little noise from this establishment and what we did have was after 09.00am. I can recommend the sausages and kebabs. The other side was a Thai restaurant which while busy (we did not use this restaurant) again did not bother us. There is an outside seating area looking out onto a green. However at the rear of the Thai restaurant is an air conditioning cooling unit. This is quite noisy. This did not bother us unduly getting to sleep as we had the windows and doors closed. If it was hot in the bedroom and while there was a fan unit in there if you needed a window or door open it could an issue. The unit turned off at 1.00am. The apartment is very close to the seafront, an Aldi and two pubs and eatery's. Would recommend Pisani pizza and Frydays fish and chips.

There are a lot of positives about this accommodation, we already know the area very well.

It was clean, spacious, well positioned for views and amenities and the parking space was a bonus, as parking would have been difficult near the flat. I was a little concerned having read recent reviews, but the property was rated excellent , so we booked anyway. There was a concerning problem on our first night there, which I reported via the instructions left by the owner the following morning. I do not feel it was taken with any urgent regard to make our stay less stressful. The noise from the flat above us started around 10pm and continued to around 3am, every night. The oven in his self catering flat did not get warm, and the twin bedroom, despite the radiators being on was absolutely freezing, we had to go out and buy blankets. We have booked with Sykes many times, but the property is managed by Lyme Bay holidays . We would not book this flat again until the above concerns were dealt with. It’s a real shame.

Just got back from a weeks holiday in Beer .

We stayed at apartment 1. Durham house . We walked into a warm and welcoming place. Spotlessly clean and everything you need for a relaxing and comfortable stay . Right in the heart of the village. The village shop and bus stop across the road . Other facilities, bars, restaurant's chip shop , and shops in a short walking distance. The beach is also nearby, it’s a pebble beach, lots of things to keep you busy. We took the coastal path to Seaton which is quite a hike but if mobile it’s a good walk. We also took the bus to Sidmouth and drove to Lime Regis . . We took our dog with us and everyone in Beer was dog friendly. Definitely worth a visit and stay in the comfort of your own apartment.
