We had a really lovely stay at Tresco bungalow.
The property, views, location and facilities were excellent. It was very well equiped and had everthing we needed. The only issues we encountered were upon arrival at the Bungalow the description of how to access the property from the car park, (there was no mention of a car park) was not clear and as we arrived in the dark proved something of an issue, and no mention of any steps that you had to access from the car park. The emergency number was not helpful as you had to go through a number of options and then leave a message and someone would get back to you. Not helpful I feel if you need immediate assistance. We eventually found the main entrance which is located up some stairs on a public walkway uphill behind the Bungalow. The Bungalow does have a garden next to it which is gated which would eliminate the need to use the steps but apparently is no longer in use for guests, and I therefore feel is an issue if you have a lot of luggage or mobility issues. I did mention to Sykes that the description was not accurate, which they agreed and said they would update it. I unfortunately left an item behind which has now been returned safely but that proved a bit of nightmare as there was knowone you could speak to directly. All the numbers I tried only had options to book as a guest or rent for as an owner. You have to go through either of these options and you are then transferred, you cannot telephone customer services direct it is a digital service only. I telephoned many times to chase it up and spoke to at least 10 poeple on different occasions, having to wait at least 20 mins on each occasion having to repeat the same conversation, and then put on hold each time as they then had to contact the Carbis bay office before eventually it was sorted. It was so long winded. They stated the housekeeper had serviced the property the day we left and would have no reason to go back to the property until the next occupants left, so I had know way of knowing for over a week whether my property had been found by the housekeeper. I do feel having someone closer at hand to deal with immediate issues would be beneficial, and unfortunately would make me reluctant to book a property with Sykes again without this.

We had a very pleasant stay in St Ives.
Tresco bungalow is furnished brilliantly, with very modern fittings and utilities that made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The location is perfect for short walks into town and directly to the beautiful beach below. We were very unfortunate with weather, so could only use the hot tub once, but it was set up nicely to be able to look out at the lovely view whilst relaxing. St Ives has some wonderful old architecture, beautiful walks in the town and challenging hills to explore, as well as some lovely pubs, an incredible old church and great restaurants. The Harbour Fish and Chips were some of the best fish and chips Iâve ever had! We took the train to Penzance as well, which was an experience, but the town isnât any where near as lovely as St Ives, so we were glad to be staying there. Some things to note⦠getting to the property was a slight challenge, you need to be prepared to drive down an incredibly steep hill which looks like a footpath. Myself and my wife both decided sat nav must be wrong and diverted to a different route through town, which turned out to be a wrong move and got us a little lost down the tiny roads we shouldnât have been on. When investigating the steep hill path by foot we realised this was in fact the way, and managed to get the car down the hill. It wasnât a problem in the end, but some advanced warning that youâll need a car that can handle the climb back up the hill too and some reasonably good driving skills to navigate this. Another thing of note and only minor grievance would be that the pool man came before 8am on the morning we were leaving, which we felt was a little intrusive as we had until 10am to leave. In the second bedroom, the two single beds pushed together could do with a mattress topper to make sure you canât feel the divide. Otherwise the bungalow was excellent, well equipped, clean, modern and great location for the duration of our holiday.

We booked sebright as a little getaway with our dog.
I must say I was a little sceptical after reading the reviews. Sebright is a lovely, relaxing and private getaway in a lovely part of Cornwall. The owners heated up the hot tub for us as we travelled down so it was ready for us when we arrived. We arrived late as we couldnât travel as early as we wanted but the owners left the light on and the keys on a safe place so we didnât have to disturb them. The farm was beautiful, we didnât see much of it as we had planned days out already but we absolutely loved the privacy of our stay, 6ft fences all the way round meant that you had safety for your dog and private space. The log hot tub was just luxurious, you can feel the heat piping in. Lodge was spacious and had everything we needed, we brought food which we thought would be easy to cook given previous reviews but honestly you could cook a full roast dinner here, the comment about âno facilities, scissors, mopâ they had weighing scales! We brought extra bits given the old reviews but ended up leaving them in the car. There was everything we needed to be honest. It was clean on arrival and there was some fresh scones, cream and jam and even milk in the fridge. We didnât actually get to meet the owners but they were very friendly when arranging keys, and were disappointed we didnât get to meet their spaniels! We brought ours! We didnât plan for the weather well but that was our own fault so we did leave late Sunday night, to beat traffic but the fire was a cosy place to snuggle up and watch a film. We felt it was close to the places we wanted to go and visit and was perfect for us. We have told many dog owners how we thought this was a perfect secure getaway and a lovely break for us too

The location was good, but the cottage smelled of damp, likely coming from the bathroom.
Garden and outside area were not great, we were expecting a proper garden with a nicer fence/enclosure, but there was just grass. We appreciate that it is was the end of October, but gardens can be looked after in winter too (especially for the amount of money that two nights in the cottage costed). Hot tub was great, but it took almost an hour to reach the right temperature and the bag of logs can be used once only, so to use the hot tub again, extra money is required for another bag of logs, which is excessive after having spent almost £400 for two nights. It was very windy and we could hear something in the cottage rattling for the entire stay (not sure what is was, our guess is the metallic heater inside the cottage which is powered by wood). No shower gel/shampoo or hair dryer provided, which we found disappointing. We appreciate that these were not on the list of things provided, but it is what is expected as a minimum. Everything listed was there, enough space in the wardrobe for two nights, nice cottage inside, but, again, we were expecting more as furnitures had rusty handles and were old. It was clean, there is a dish washer and even dishwasher tablets are provided. Check in time is 5pm, extreme really, especially when you have to check out at 10 am and leave everything clean behind you, even take the rubbish out. Earlier check in was accomodated for us, but for 3pm, which is still late if you are there just for two nights. We were welcomed with ginger biscuits (which we loved) and a botyle of wine, which was very nice on the owner. Overall not bad, but can be improved a lot. And a bit too expensive for what we found.

We did enjoy our holiday.
The place was nice but smaller than expected, however the sea view was lovely. We do have things to note though. I think marketing as pet friendly is not quite accurate. We kept our dog out of the bedroom as much as possible (as requested) however, one time he snuck in while I was grabbing something from the bedroom and jump on the bed just once. He did get a few mud marks on it but to claim that you needed to replace the sheets and under sheets, we think is a little misleading of your title as âpet-friendlyâ. Weâve been to Cornwall before in other venues which have definitely been more accommodating for dogs, especially as a fee for having a pet there is already taken for the holiday. To then ask for £85 for new sheets I would recommend changing your accommodation details for âno petsâ. The hot tub was nice, although Iâm not sure if everyone has used a firewood hot tub before, so maybe more information on this is needed for future holiday visitors. The bed was comfy and facilities were generally clean. We do believe there was either rats or some small animals scattering around outside but I guess to be expected for a location near farmland. Overall it was good, we had a discount due to booking last minute so we feel it fairly meets the price of booking we paid/to experience of accommodation. However, if we had paid usual price, we are not sure we would feel the same.
