What a beautiful beautiful place to stay!
I booked this for my partners 29th birthday & wow it exceeded all our expectations. I already knew it was going to be gorgeous from the pictures on the advertisement but itâs something else to see it in person. Everything on the listing is 100% accurate. I was shocked by how large the garden area was, our little pooch had the time of her life running around during the day with her ball. The hot tub is outstanding, perfect temperature ready for you to get straight in on arrival & maintains the heat really well throughout your stay; Iâve never been in this style of hot tub where it has a lay down style bed in there but WOW how relaxing, I couldâve stayed in there all day. The facilities within the space has everything you could possibly need including more storage areas for food in the outbuilding which I think is so important especially if youâre staying for a week & donât want clutter in the bedroom or living area. Everything worked perfectly, we had no issues with electricals, the oven & hob are very easy to use & the TV has apps available for you to watch your favourite films/shows. The electric fire was beautiful & gives the perfect vibe for a rainy evening infront of the tv. Weâve stayed in many places before & I always like to note the sleeping experience as I think this is so important. One thing Iâll say is that was one of the most comfortable beds I have EVER slept in, the mattress was to die for! I even had to see what mattress it was to potentially purchase it

Overall we had a really great stay and the cottage and surrounding environment were excellent.
There were some minor niggles but many of these were personal preferences and do not reflect negatively on the property or the facilities. In no particular order these were: - o There was an issue with the booking and on arrival we were shown a 1 bed property rather than the 2 bed we had booked. There was an awkward few minutes when paperwork was frantically checked and this somewhat spoiled the commencement of our break. My suggestion with regard to this would be to have individual names for the properties rather than studio 1 & 2. o The property would be better served by removing some of the clutter and non-essentials from the kitchen and dining area. I know many people like to cook a lot whilst on a self catering vacation but for us there was just too much stuff in and around the kitchen. Possible an online checklist prior to arrival would allow the management to tailor the contents of the property to the needs of the guests. o The wet room - My issue is I just don't like wet rooms. The floor was never dry despite all the incessant mopping that had to be done every time the shower was used. The one real issue that we were OK with but should have been made aware of was the building work taking place on the site during the entirety of our stay. The builders were respectful and friendly and as quiet as they possibly could have been but we should have been informed that this work would be in progress.

Everything was better than we expected (apart from the weather'''''') The owners Julia and Dave were a joy to meet a were extremely helpful.
My only criticism was the design of the Wet-room pump action centrifugal spinning floor mop which I thought was a novel and great idea but it is not not fast enough to be effective and not the owners fault either. Then there was the impossibility in getting a cab to take us to the Polgooth when it was RAINING. But to be be Fair it is too short a FARE to make it worth their while I suppose. Still I can't help wondering if they would show an interest and suddenly find an available cab if you were to say name your price, or they could impose some sort of surcharge for short runs at peak times as a minimum charge. To be honest, I would happily have paid an extra £5 or even £10 on a special family night out to save us all from a drenching from the Biblical downpours.. that would have had Noah heading for the hills. The steep driveway was not anything to worry about and became a bit of a chuckle after the first ascent / decent. btw there is hardly any phone signal so a good way to chat is via messenger or whatsapp but then I expect most people know that one already but I was a bit slow to suss that one out. All in all, none of that was Dave and Julia's fault and I've been rambling a bit now methinks, and have digressed from announcing most importantly that this was possibly one of the best retreats that we have spent our break in/at and wouldn't hesitate from recommending to my friends.

We have been super impressed with Pear Tree Cottage!
Itâs a beautiful place to stay! It had everything we needed (and I cooked a 3 course Christmas Dinner with all the trimmings!!) and had a separate building for utilities! We really struggle to find places that are good for our dogs, lots say they accept pets but miss certain features that make them dog friendly, or compromise on the quality of decor and furniture. We found this place really was the best of both, everything was lovely and clean, and the high walled enclosed garden was a god send for us, this meant that we could let them out to toilet without having to lead them round, and we had privacy so they werenât reacting to people walking past the property all the time. It also had a hot tub for us to relax in which is an added bonus! Itâs been the best Christmas and we have been so impressed, will definitely be back!!

Pear Tree Cottage is a unique holiday home in an idyllic setting down a quiet country lane.
The owner was very welcoming and accommodating and we had a very pleasant stay. He kept in touch with us and responded quickly to any queries that we had, despite being away himself. There were however a few issues that did affect our stay such as there being no freezer as it had gone wrong, the garden umbrella being broken and the kitchen fridge either dripping water but then freezing our food when we turned it up a notch. These are mainly maintenance issues that need rectifying, although we appreciate that the owner has not had the property for long and may not be aware of certain things that need to be fixed. The property was very clean and neat and tidy, but a few bits of cleaning missed such as the patio table. Overall though we would definitely recommend this property and would stay there again.
