    Holiday Cottages in Crickhowell

The town of Crickhowell in southeastern Powys is a picturesque location, nestled into the Usk Valley just south of the Black Mountains. An attractive destination for staycations due to its proximity to the eastern range of the Brecon Beacons National Park, Crickhowell is a pretty Georgian town.

Crug Hywel Iron Age hill fort is well preserved given its age and the town’s 17th century bridge is a further reminder of its rich heritage. The town is also well known for its stylish independent shops and cafes — considered the best of the shopping destinations in the region (awarded 'Best British High Street in the UK', 2018). Check out Book-ish and the Black Mountains Smokery, a family-run artisan smokery.

    Tretower Castle & Court

This architectural wonder spans 900 years of history. Tretower is two wonders in one as just across the castle green lies an entire medieval court that became a byword for magnificence. You'll find the great hall set up just as if it were for a lavish feast in the 1460s. A recreated 15th century garden contains fragrant white roses that represent Sir Roger's passionate Yorkist sympathies. Mostly accessible for wheelchair users, dogs on leads welcome, gift shop, refreshments, picnic tables, toilets, child friendly.

    Pen y Fan

Pen y Fan is one of the most popular walks in Wales. When the weather is fine, the views are truly splendid, with mile upon mile of rolling hills. There are marked trails on the walk, so please stick to these and take care - some sections are steep and the drop at the top is sheer. Take a look at the 'Visit Wales' website for more information - it features the Pen y Fan walk among others.
