    South Downs Way

    The South Downs Way is a trail that follows the old routes and droveways along the chalk escarpment and ridges of the South Downs. It runs 100 miles - from Winchester to Eastbourne. It is a beautiful and peaceful trail due to it running entirely off road and within the South Downs National Park. There are plenty of wildlife and nature spotting opportunities. There are many different entry points onto the trail which makes it easy to do a smaller section at a time. The National Trail website has detailed information about the trail.     Winchester Castle

    Winchester Castle was built in 1067 and today the 13th century 'Great Hall' remains. The hall contains the greatest symbol of mediaeval mythology, King Arthur's Round Table. The Great Hall which is an enhancement of the original Winchester Castle built by William the Conqueror, is one of the finest surviving aisled halls of the 13th century.
