We liked the village location of Swan View cottage and its proximity to Lechade on Thames with its pubs, cafes and shops.
A pint of milk and a bottle of wine were left for us on arrival which was appreciated. The overall standard of accommodation at the cottage is good. The lounge, kitchen and dining areas are all a decent size and tastefully decorated. The cottage also benefits from a pleasant and a neat garden with seating. Thereâs also a conservatory which is a lovely place to relax. The cottage is reasonably well equipped, but there was no toast rack, or shaver socket in the bathroom. Only one hand towel was provided, luckily we brought a couple of our own. The freezer needed defrosting and the kettle needed descaling. On the negative side the bathroom was in dire need of a refresh, we were told that there are plans to do this. The shower riser rail is too low and the bathroom window is a poor fit and is draughty. Parking on the drive could be an issue for some as there is an awkward slope which makes it difficult to reverse onto; made worse by the cottage being on a bend restricting visibility. There was no information pack providing the usual useful information you would normally expect; details of local shops, GP, vet, hospital, local amenities, pubs, public transport etc. There was no fire escape plan either which is a serious omission and which needs to be remedied. Overall we felt the cottage was quite good but could be a lot better if the above issues were addressed.

I am not sure when someone last stayed in the Barn before us, but when we got in we were greeted by a lot of dead flies and there were a lot of alive ones in the barn over the course of the week. There were a lot of cobwebs too, along with dripping taps in the kitchen and en-suite. Someone had taken away 1 of the remote controls for the Humax box in the spare bedroom and the remote controls for the TVs were all muddled up. The batteries in some of the remotes were completely dead and there were no spares., so I was taking them out of one to put in the other depending on what device we were using. The Humax boxes had been disconnected from the TVs. The TV in the sitting room only has 1 HDMI connection but there are 2 devices, so you had to keep disconnecting 1 to use the other. The heating was very hot and there was no way to turn it down as the cupboard mentioned in the folder was padlocked. The numbers on the key safe pad are very worn and so impossible to see if you're arriving in the dark. The window cleaners also turned up when we were there. It seems such a shame because the Barn is lovely, but these things did detract from our enjoyment of staying there for my Husband's Birthday.

As a party of 4 adults Rosebank Barn was a spacious and comfortable place to stay. The barn was converted to a high standard with everything we needed. A good quality hamper was provided. Julia the housekeeper went out of her way to be helpful and meet our needs and came over especially to sort out synthetic bedding and separate twin beds which we had requested but hadn’t been done on our arrival. If you’re looking for a getaway from it all place to stay Rosebank is perfect. I would have awarded 5 stars but the WiFi was of very poor signal on our arrival and we had one day fielding calls from India which were highly suspicious. There is also very poor phone signal, although a phone is provided for incoming calls and emergency calls. The steps on the ground floor are steep and may not be suitable for elderly people or a family with young children.

A lovely quaint cottage situated in a quiet location but with a blind corner when pulling out of the driveway.
Overall we had a pleasant stay as we used this house as a base so we could visit the airshow. A little bemused when the owner turned up on the Monday the 22nd of July expecting the house to be empty as she had planned to stay there!!! An oversight on your part Sykes?? Not the best maintained property as the bathroom window handle was sheared off leaving a jagged edge. The master bedroom had a double socket hanging off the wall with exposed live wires!! We did contact the mobile number on the booking form to report these hazards. The freezer had to be defrosted as the drawers were frozen in place and couldnât be moved and the top of the fridge hadnât ever seen a duster as it was covered with dust. Generally the inside of the house could do with a freshen up as it is looking tired but on a positive note it was comfy and a nice place to stay.

A really enjoyable stay, blighted only by The Swan being shut (and no sign of it re-opening!
:( ) The cottage was very clean and welcoming. Lots of room downstairs especially for the 2 of us and our Labrador Molly. Shame there isn't a 3rd bedroom as this would be perfect for a larger group. Facilities are moire than adequate throughout the cottage. Dog walking in the village is so handy (across the road and into the massive fields beyond) and there is a useful back garden. In all the property is ideal, although local facilities are few and far between..... The area has lots to offer and the walks from Southrop to EastLeach Turville over the fields and from The Trout Inn to The Riverside Inn at Lechlade are super short and easy picturesque outings. A really enjoyable stay, thank you.
