What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lynne - Verified booking

I'd like to start by saying we had a brilliant holiday we used the cottage as a base to walk the coastal path.

The cottage is is a beautiful location but on opening the door the first thing we where hit by was a terrible smell of dog. We boiled up some coffee grounds to help get rid of the smell. The quilt was awful very strained. I did take photos. We normally have our sleeping bags with us in the car but I'd taken them out for this trip. If we'd had them I would have used them instead. The sink was very strained and needed a good clean. Again I do have photos. The carpet has seen better days. When we came to use the vacuum cleaner it gave off really strong dog smells. At one point we woke up to find we had no water. The owner lived next door but didn't answer her phone. I know she was poorly but she could have talked to us on the phone. We went with out water for over two hours not very nice when your thirsty. This could be the most amazing place with a bit of updating and cleaning. I would rather have just emailed Sykes with the photos really but couldn't find an email address.

Just had a fabulous four day break staying at the Morfa Isaf cottage.

Mandy, the delightful property owner, was there to meet us and show us around when we arrived. The cottage facilities were brilliant, home from home, everything that you need and more! We ate in the Pentre Arms in Llangrannog on two occasions, dog friendly and better to book, the food is amazing! The Londis shop in Brynhoffnant is very good but a little pricey. We went on holiday with our daughter, her partner and their two Beagles who all stayed in the Granary Cottage a few feet from our cottage! They did alot of walking on the fabulous surrounding beaches and coastal paths whereas us retired folks discovered the area in our car. Lots of lovely places to visit. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again!

The location of the cottage is fabulous with gorgeous views over the bay.

The cottage itself is cosy and welcoming. We chose this cottage specifically as it is described as having access to a private beach which we were intending to take our dog to every day of our stay. We were very disappointed to discover that the private beach is accessed via an incredibly steep and very overgrown path which looked too dangerous to attempt. Guests at the next door B&B did manage to make it down there but struggled to make the climb back up the hill. I do think the description is very misleading as it gives the impression that the beach is at the end of the garden path. This is so not the case and needs to be honestly and properly explained in the overview of the cottage.

Overall, we were very happy with our stay.

It is a doggie-friendly house, which for dog owners is nice and the host is lovely and the location is outstanding, but I didn't award full marks for everything for one reason. As described, the garden directly outside the house is communal and gets used as such. Children were playing there most evenings. In and of itself, this isn't an issue during the day but, the windows to the rear of the cottage are large and have no blinds or nets, so when you come out of to the bathroom or go to the kitchen in the morning, you have to be fully dressed. Had I known in advance, I'd have brought a dressing gown to walk from the bathroom, back up to the bedroom to get dressed.

We stayed at Morfa Isaf for 5 nights.

What a super property with a great location. The cottage was wonderful. We loved the fact it had a piano, not that we can play but that didnt matter (YouTube tutorials came in handy). The cottage was cosy, warm, clean and had everything you could possibly need. Mandy was lovely and so welcoming. The views were fantastic and the freedom to walk along coastal paths from the cottage was ideal. Going later in the year (late October) was good but as the weather had been quite wet it was muddy so wellies would have been a good idea to take. Would love to visit there in the Summer as the garden area would be great to use more. A great place with lovely people.
