What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mandy - Verified booking

This is a lovely holiday home and was perfect for our needs.

I would recommend to others. The reasons why it suited us are that it was very quiet location in a peaceful setting with walks from the door and lots of short day trips (nothing too taxing for a short break) nearby. The property is really nicely presented, super clean but cosy as well. I think having 2 en-suites both with baths is a great idea, it means each person or couple can both have a bath after a long days walking if they chose to. We particularly enjoyed the conservatory as the weather was unpredictable, so this gave us a place to relax and enjoy the view which was really restful. I know everyone always says 'home from home' but I have never used this to describe a holiday home before even when they have been a really high standard/fantastic, but I have to say the owners have really added a personal touch which did make me feel like I was staying in somebody's home rather than a holiday home, there was every single item you could think of in the kitchen and a really lovely welcome basket, but what was so nice was that it was equipped with nice china and bowls (very cottagey),the dining table was set out nicely on arrival and it looked really attractive and welcoming, loads of tea towels and cleaning stuff, plus waffle robes in the bedrooms, great especially if using the hot tub .. who takes a bathrobe on holiday especially for a short break? and remembers dishwasher tablets? plus water bottles and bathroom toiletries. We had a minor glitch with the hot tub (air in the pump) but it was easily resolved, and the hot tub was perfectly placed in a sheltered spot in the garden to enjoy the view. The summer house is fantastic and we used this to sit and read in the evenings when too cool to sit out but too nice to be inside. We received a text from the owners when we arrived to check we were OK which I appreciated, having a few week earlier stayed in another (expensive) holiday property with another well know holiday home rental company (not Sykes), but then couldn't get a response when we left messages about a problem

Fabulous Cottage with everything you would need and more!

The owners have thought of every little detail to make your stay the best it can be. Hot tub was fantastic, clean, beautiful and peaceful scenery surrounding for ultimate relaxation. Great walks on your doorstep for shorter easier routes and longer for the hikers out there, the owners have planned routes and maps in leaflets for you also. By far the best place we have stayed and have already recommended to others, if your lucky enough to get booked here your in for a treat! Weather won't be an issue as if you want to hibernate indoors there is more than enough books and games to keep you entertained. Bedrooms are spacious with the comfiest bed we have slept on both with en-suite bath and shower, there was a lovely bag in each cupboard with little extras in also but I will let you check them out, it's the extra little things that make it special sometimes and this place is packed with them!

The cottage was beautiful however, due to a power cut 2 hours into our holiday we were without any electric, heating or phone connections for the whole 3 days!

!!! We have stayed at this property before, so we are aware that the owner only lives 3-4 minutes away, however they never bothered to check if we were ok. The whole of the village was without power, so they would have been aware. There was no torch or candles left and no wood for the log burner, which would have been the only form of heat we had, the temperature got down to minus 3. All of the food we had taken went off, due to having no electricity, so that was £75 worth of food gone!!! All we had was bread but nothing to put on it, as the butter had gone off!!! We were unable to call the people who had dropped us off to come and collect us, so we had no option but to stay until we were picked up 3 days later. All in all, it was an absolute disgrace and no offer of any kind of recompense!!!

There were 7 adults in the party, 3 couples plus one single person and a husky.

We found the Cheviot Hills and Wooler to be an excellent location for our different interests. We are walkers, birders, historians and shoppers and all found something to suit our tastes. The house was clean, warm, comfortable and plenty large enough with four good size bedrooms downstairs and 4 bathrooms ( 2 en suite). The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge and dining room easily large enough for all of us. It was a pleasure to sit out on the decking, and in the hot tub, with views over the town and of the surrounding hills. The town has a range of shops and food establishments that will cater for most needs. There was so much for us to see and do in the area. We would be happy to go back for another holiday there and do the things we didn’t have time for on this holiday.

      Lovely holiday cottage.

Great location. Very well equipped. Fabulous hot tub - my advice is to take some flip flops to get from the house to the tub as it’s across the drive from the house. Wonderful surroundings with lots of nature and walks on the doorstep - we even saw a barn owl from the garden. The sun room is nice for a relaxing cup of coffee in the morning and the views are fabulous. The owners were very friendly and helpful and got in touch before the holiday and on the start day to check we’d managed to get in ok and ensure our holiday was going to plan. Be aware it’s two double beds so rather than a double and a twin but it wasn’t a problem for my kids. Overall a fabulous weekend away.
