What our customers say about their holidays

    • Lorraine - Verified booking

Had never used a cottage holiday let in the past so had no real idea what it would be like.

To start with, the owner Frances called a few days ahead to see if we needed milk put in the fridge. She also offered the use of a dog bed and food bowl. This I was not expecting so off to a good start. The cottage itself was superb. Frances had left notes to explain how the TV and free view box work, how to work the key safe, and to explain she was having issues with the broadband but offered the use of her house system if needed. There was just about every tourist information leaflet you could possibly need along with a selection of books, DVD's and CD's. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and probably had more things in it that I have at home. The bathroom is superb. Very well appointed with underfloor heating and loads of room. The shower was great and the towels were top quality too. The bedroom is ample big enough with loads of wardrobe space. The white decor helped it have a lovely bright airy feeling. The cottage is up a narrow lane which was quiet, and only a ten minute or so walk to the city centre. Frances had left a welcome basket with chocolates, oatcakes, ground coffee, apples, Apple juice and olives. While we never used any of this the offer was certainly appreciated. So to sum up, Garden Cottage is a superb holiday let being very well appointed and providing everything you could possibly need. Great central but quiet location improved by having a very considerate owner. We would certainly go back again.

The cottage was very clean, well equipped and comfortable.

It is step free access and throughout with central heating and under floor heating in the bathroom. The owners who live next door were very friendly and helpful and were regularly on hand to answer any questions. The cottage is located on the edge of Perth, with plenty of attractions including Edinburgh within an hours drive. There are many things which are within walking distance for dogs including dog friendly cafes in Perth. The town has supermarkets, bars, restaurants and shops which are within walking distance. The town has lots of disabled parking if needed. Many reviews comment on the narrow drive. The initial access is a private drive which only one car can fit through at a time but I didn’t see another car on there during the week. I managed to get into the drive with an estate car large enough for 4 people, luggage and a Labrador. The drive is essentially an S bend into the cottage with a large area to turn around at the top. It is easily accessible for anything less than a minibus, which would still probably fit with care. I would highly recommend this property and we have every intention of going back.

The cottage is in a central location, only a ten minute walk from the town centre (albeit up a steep hill).

Very quiet and dark at night so no light pollution.Although only four rooms, including bathroom, the cottage is a long house and therefore feels spacious. Fantastic shower room with underfloor heating, quite newly fitted I would guess, large shower cubicle adapted for the elderly. A well equipped kitchen, plenty of storage space. The main thing to note is the access and parking, the lane is narrow and the entrance is quite tight if you have anything larger than say a Peugeot 308, a Citroen C4 Picasso, a Ford CMax. The surrounding countryside is, or course, magnificent and if it's your first visit there is something different to do every day - walking, shopping, theatre & concerts, heritage sites etc.etc. Don't be put off by the weather either, Perth is one of the driest places in Scotland - a week in January and not one drop of rain and never below 8C during the day. We would definitely go back if possible.

Lovely cottage, good facilities and great location.

However there is no garden as shown in the listing photos. The lawn is the owners and fenced off. The garden furniture is replaced by the bins by your bedroom window. In reality there is an area of gravel to park your car. The area is not secure for dogs, the main gate is always open. Contrary to the owners comments they use their garden on a regular basis. Playing with their grand children, putting their washing out, mowing the lawn and emptying their bins by the bedroom window. All a couple of meters away. So if you have a dog or like your privacy, think about it.

Good location in Perth close to river sculpture park.

Cottage was in very clean, with well furnished kitchen. Bathroom and bedroom were modern, lovely hot shower. The sofa we found was very hard and uncomfortable to sit on. Note to dog owners, there is no enclosed garden to the property, Unfortunately i didnt realise on booking, there is a gravel area directly in front of the cottage, where you can park, but no where you can have a dog off lead. Owners cottage is very close to cottage so if you like to sit out in privacy, probably not the right property for you. Overall a good property, would recommend.
