What our customers say about their holidays

    • Mr Wilkinson - Verified booking

The shower is excellent & so is the kitchen, except for the absence of a microwave, which I consider inexcusable & a serious inconvenience. The lounge was completely useless to me as it offered not even a small fraction of enough light for reading. Nor did anywhere else in the place, except for sitting at the kitchen or dining room tables. The rubbish bin was completely filled, right to the brim. And plunked on top was a large bin bag filled with shattered pottery of some sort, enormously heavy & with the shards slicing through the plastic, & filled with rainwater that, of course, spilled all over the place when I had to move it. In spite of those serious hazards, I hauled them to the exact spot identified in the notebook for guests. Indeed, I put them out the evening before the designated day of collection. They were never touched, & it was a struggle to add my own bag when I was ready to depart. Also, in spite of what it says in the notebook, it is impossible to adjust the heating since every single unit is locked at a fixed setting, & only a single unit, in the dining room, put out even a slight amount of heat the entire time I was there. Not a place I would even consider returning to or recommending.

This is constructive feedback only for the property owner: It doesn't work to have a thermostat above a storage heater!

We had to turn the thermostat up to about 25 degrees to make the central heating come on It would be a good idea to have an extractor fan in the bathroom as it's getting damp in there It would have been useful to know that there is no signal to be able to phone or text Please leave guidance about the bins, as to when you put them out! I have just had a farcical dance with them this morning, not realising that your green and black bins are both collected weekly, and Sue didn't make it very clear, so I am afraid I didn't get the recycling out and only just made the black bin emptying Feedback that can be published: We had a comfy week in possibly the most peaceful place we have ever stayed. We loved the open fire and got used to there being no TV quickly, enjoying the quiet. There were plentiful puzzles, games and books to amuse. It was very handy to have the CB Inn a 5 minute stroll down the road and they were welcoming to dogs in the bar area. We enjoyed just a drink and also a roast dinner. Reeth is a nice little town with dog friendly pubs. Richmond or Barnard Castle seem to be the nearest places to fill up with petrol, so beware of getting too low on fuel!

We have very mixed feelings about Aros.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in a magnificent, peaceful location surrounded by sheep, rabbits, lapwings, birds galore and wonderful flora. Walks abound in the area, straight from the door plus a very welcoming inn, The C B 5 minutes walk away serving superb food. We appreciate the cottage was built some years ago and requires a lot of maintenance but it could do with some tlc eg new bathroom with extractor fan as it is damp, decorating throughout as wallpaper is peeling. I am always suspicious of cottages that contain air fresheners…….why does it need one? Possibly to conceal the damp smell or visiting dogs? We knew before booking that dogs were allowed but their presence was obvious by the fur on floors and kitchen cupboard doors. I tried to clean this up but unfortunately the Vax cleaner was useless. Sadly we did not find the sofa comfortable and the armchairs were too low. The kitchen appears to be fairly new and is extremely well equipped. There is an impressive selection of maps, books, games and jigsaws to while away any spare time if needed and the WiFi was welcomed for accessing weather forecasts in the absence of a tv. We did not miss the tv at all.

A comfortable, well equipped home apart from too small a fridge for 4 adults and for our 11 nights stay, difficult keeping our drinks cold!

but managed and a visit to Richmond for food midweek was possible. As all are used to a dishwasher having none made clearing up after a family meal a bit of a chore however view from kitchen window was enjoyable and a routine was established. We and our dog Mac enjoyed the many walks from the front door and the ability to walk to the local pubs and restaurant ,a peaceful relaxing stay with wonderful views of the countryside and especially enjoyed the woodburner, while eating our meals or sitting chatting in the lounge . We appreciated that the owner was available if needed and knew the area well.We had a lovely Christmas & New Year family get-together, thank you for the care and attention to detail you have put into T'Other End,Arkle Town House, the Christmas tree and welcome box was appreciated ,Best wishes for a great 2024.

Loved our stay so much we have already booked for next year.

Fabulous views from front of cottage, nice little outside area to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery. We have an electric car so the EV charger made the holiday stress free. Washer/dryer another bonus. Took an outdoor dog stack so we could relax while enjoying the sunshine knowing the dog was safe. Lovely circular walks from the cottage. 4 pubs in walking distance, as well as an ice cream parlour. The bike cafe opposite do a fab all day breakfast batch as well as a fabulous selection of cakes. Only slight improvement would be to have a thick sponge cushion on the pew seats at the dining table as the seat was slightly too low for the table. Fremington is in a beautiful area of The Dales.
