What our customers say about their holidays

The facilities of the stay were great.

The house was very clean too. However, on the day we arrived, there was barely no heating at all. Very concerned, we contacted who was looking after the property, and the reply that came back was to ask us to intrude on a honeymoon couple staying in the apartment below us and get them to sort the situation. We were not comfortable with this at all. The heating only really came back after about 5 hours. Furthermore, we left on a Sunday, and we were expecting the house to be checked on the same day or the day after at the most, so we could get our bond money. Only after we left were we informed the house would not be cleaned / checked until almost a week later (Friday). We didn’t think it was acceptable to keep a £150 bond for almost a week after our stay. Even though the property itself was more than up to standards, we won’t be staying again due to the customer service we received.

      A fabulous spacious property.

The pictures don’t really do it justice - you need to see it to appreciate the size of the rooms and the quality of the furnishings and fittings. I would love a kitchen at home with as much storage as Castle Keep and the walk-in pantry is so useful. Owner was helpful and unobtrusive, just checking if everything was ok and explaining that the hot tub was a recent addition since we booked, so would be available if required, at an additional cost. The sauna is a bonus facility especially after a day enjoying a fabulous walk in the amazing local countryside. We had our supplies delivered by Asda for shortly after our arrival - much better than having to bring everything with us or having to visit the supermarket on the first day of out holiday.

This property exceeded all expectations and more.

Scott was very helpful. Anything we needed was done right away nothing was too much trouble. It was very clean and the whole property was a very high standard. There was also a 4K TV which was a bonus. The only thing I could suggest would be TV’s in the bedrooms as there wasn’t any in any of the bedrooms however this did not affect our stay. There is a lovely walk called high force waterfalls about 30 mins drive. Not many restaurants around but there is a lovely Italian not to far called Boun Appetit about 10 mins drive. Che was also lovely but that is a takeaway only. There is also a lovely park for kids and river about 5-10 mins walk from the castle. Would highly recommend staying here and we will return in the future.

      WOW! what a fabulous place.

The property was like a maze and with its natural quartz and marble floors along with 250 year old stone features made this a very interesting and quirky property. The view along Stanhope high street was spectacular from the living room and kitchen. The owner had left us a bottle of fizz and a small hamper which was superb after our long drive. The quality of the fixtures and fittings along with the beds and linnen. Even the bath sheets were all absolutely top quality. We enjoyed browsing Durham dales centre and had a trip to high force water fall.beamish and bowes museum were amazing days out to.overall 10/10. We will definitely be booking this property again as it was outstanding.

The accommodation at Castle Keep was amazing and has everything you could wish for.

Although we didn't use the sauna, we made use of the hot tub most evenings. The friendly owners are only a phone call away should you need them & only too willing to help. The castle is situated in the great location of Stanhope & has all the amenities you could wish for, 2x pubs, Freddies fish & chip shop (highly recommended), butchers, bakers, Co-op, bank etc. just to name a few. There is even a pizza van that parks in the main square on a Thursday evening between 6 & 9 & cooks a pizza of your choice whilst you wait. Although the swimming pool & Weardale Railway is closed at the moment due to Covid restrictions. We would definitely stop there again when visiting the area.
