This is a beautiful property in a stunning location very central to explore the Islands and for provisions.

The property has a beautifully kept and secure garden which was perfect with a dog. I loved the sense of history and was lucky enough to meet the housekeeper who had lived on the croft as a child so she added to the information already in the cottage about its history which I found really interesting. The cottage was lovely and warm and as the weather was on one day pretty extreme that was a godsend. The Kitchen could be better equipped and there were some minor maintenance issues which I reported both to you and the housekeeper which hopefully will be addressed for future guests. In particular I would have liked to have had a couple more ovenproof dishes and at least one non stick pan. I find most holiday cottages do not provide the latter but I would find it useful as I do like to cook for myself and I ate out more than I planned because the kitchen was a bit basic. The information pack on the cottage and on activities in the area was very good. The only thing that wasn't clear was whether guests had access to the washing machine which was in the shed and as such I didn't use it. If it is part of the facilities would have been good to know. Aside from these issues I had a lovely time in the cottage and it was a comfortable and cosy place to return to after a day walking in rather unfriendly weather. I am sure had I been there earlier in the summer when the weather had been so settled I would probably have thought I was in heaven and not ventured beyond the glorious beach.

On my first entry into the house I banged my head on a low hung stone which keeps the thatch in place.

I reckon it could be hung on the netting a few inches higher. The hot tap of the sink in the bathroom turns the wrong way for a Brit! Consequently the tap fitting has become loose and the nut underneath just needs to be tightened. The cooker hood didn't work but this was not an issue really, neither was the fact that the remote for the TV didn't work. We didn't go on holiday to watch TV but kept the program on a News channel alone. There was also a Radio which was good The most important thing is that the house is in a lovely situation, surrounded by a great variety of bird life including a short eared owl and a barn owl, and, of course it is close to a beach suitable for the hardy to swim from. Our stay was so enjoyable we regret not booking for longer. The house is very comfortable and well appointed. There is a lot one can do within walking distance of the front door!

A real gem of a place.

The cottage is beautiful and well equipped in a real home from home way. It’s surprisingly bigger than expected, very comfortable and a pleasure to come ‘home’ following a day of island hopping. When we arrived, there was warmth and light and the small thoughtful touches provided a ‘wow’ moment. The lovely owner, Neil left a generous welcome package, which was much appreciated. The cottage is located in an ideal place to tour the Uist. It’s is surrounded by machair and a short walk to white sandy beaches and turquoise waters. Getting about is easily accessible by car. Everyone on the island is friendly. We couldn’t be happier with the cottage and Neil as a host. We intend to return and would highly recommend.

      What a find!

A beautiful well appointed and comfortable property my wife and our friends and I can't recommend it enough. It's an absolutely lovely place to stay. It is like being at home, The owners have thought about every comfort you may need and more. The kitchen, bathrooms utility, sitting room furnishings are all fitted out to a very high standard. With very comfortable beds, modern bathroom, powerful hot shower. Its location means you don't have to travel far to visit North Uist's wonderful beaches and other parts of North and South Uist. Just a perfect location for a peaceful holiday, be it relaxing or active. It's the most perfect house in every way.

The cottage was beautiful and very well maintained inside and out.

It had everything you could need for an amazing break on Lewis. The rooms were so comfortable with amazing views in every direction. We had such a brilliant break, in part because the cottage was so lovely to stay in. Reading a few of the guest book comments it's clear our opinion is shared with others too. There wasn't a DVD player, though it was clear there had been one at some point and it was included in the listing. It would have been helpful to have one, as we'd brought movies with us, but it was just a small thing and not a critisism. It was such a lovely stay and we'd definately recommend it to others.
