What our customers say about their holidays

The apartment was well equipped and clean, very nice decor.

A good location for getting about. But sadly the photos had made the garden look much larger than it is, and it’s very overlooked - it’s in a holiday park which isn’t clear in the description in my view and they are crammed in. So eating outside meant looking at cars, or other houses. It’s just about ok for 6 people in terms of space but it’s not huge. The garden isn’t fenced in fully so dogs can’t be left outside. Sykes didn’t really listen when I said the photos are fish eye lens and don’t represent what’s really here, I was a bit frustrated. That said, it’s a nice place, we had a nice time, it’s very well equipped, very comfortable, but I’d review the photos so expectations aren’t raised - especially the garden. I’d have given a more positive review if I knew what I was getting - but wouldn’t have been my choice as I like more internal space, garden space and nice views.

The cottage is lovely however I don’t feel it’s big enough for 6 people, the kitchen isn’t big enough to cook for 6 people nor is the table for everyone to eat together, we had to eat in shifts and we are all slim people.

I noted we had a toddler yet the cot was not made up and there was no linen, blanket or pillow for her. We could not park 2 cars 1 behind the other without getting in the way of the other lodges which was frustrating. I am 5’7 my husband 6’2 we could not use the shower upstairs so all 4 adults were using 1 bathroom. My husband couldn’t use the upstairs bathroom without hitting his head. I know this is due to the design of the lodge but I feel it’s worth noting as we look for 2 bathrooms as we travelled with parents and it’s important to us to have space for us all. These are not meant as a negative view however if I had been aware I probably wouldn’t have booked and therefore not been disappointed with the stay. I’d say a family of 4, or 2 adults 2/3 children this lodge would feel OK. Location was good close to all the places we enjoy visiting.

Cabin whilst well equipped was a lot smaller than it appeared in the pictures on the listing.

There was no antenna signal for the television had we not had our own amazon fire stick with us there would have been little to entertain the children in the evenings. We did call the number of the cleaner and leave a message about the tv problem but did not receive a response. Whilst pets are allowed we found it not to be dog friendly as perimeter of the cabin is not secure and there was barb wire at the back over the bank leading down to the stream. Having two small dogs with us it was impossible to relax as there was no contained area and they often ended up wandering into the garden next door. Overall space was tight in the cabin for 6 people. Also all the cabins are very close to each other in proximity so you did feel uninvited guests at your neighbours BBQ

We have really enjoyed our stay at Bell Cottage.

It’s countryside location is quiet and very peaceful, much appreciated after a day out and about among the crowds. The cottage is a very comfortable place to stay and it is evident that a lot of care and attention to detail has been taken to ensure that all we could wish for is provided. We appreciated the welcome touches of a box of fudge, biscuits, drink facilities and even the guest toiletries in the bathroom. Bell cottage is exceptionally clean and very well presented. The small garden area is ideal; we enjoyed sitting outside in the sunshine and our two dogs appreciated the freedom of a safe outdoor space. We would love to stay at Bell Cottage again in the future. Our thanks to Sue and Glen for being so welcoming and on hand.

Corners and edges of rooms not cleaned, cobwebs in the beams which are minor as the rest of the accommodation was okay.

The tops of the headboards were dusty and they need cleaning between the slats behind the top of the mattress where there is a gap that is full of dust and other peoples hair. We experienced the most uncomfortable pillows we have ever come across in our lives! They were completely unacceptable. I understand you can’t please everyone but these pillows were the worse I’ve ever come across in my life! Other than that we loved the cottage and location but bear in mind the cottages are not very sound proof and you are easily disturbed by activities in and around other cottages. Slightly overpriced for the general quality. Wonderful stream and easy location for the StKew and Atlantic highways.
