What our customers say about their holidays

It has taken an age to write this, apologies.

I was fortunate to spend a few days in this lovely cabin, the decor for me was fabulous and the amenities were fine too, note: no oven, but a double gas hob and an air fryer. The kitchen has everything, you want boiled eggs, there's egg cups on the shelf, you want to pour milk from a jug, you have a choice of jugs, the plates, cups; soup cups, I was in absolute awe. The place is small and was enough for myself and children. The cabin has its own little decking area outside, it could do with having a small grassy area besides it, as it gets fabulous sun in the mornings. With a 3 min drive to the nearest village, which has a chip shop, can get pricey if there's a few of you but the owner is lovely. Everyone I met was lovely the owners are on site, but we were left to our devices, the children were invited to use their garden which was nice. We got to see a few rabbits. Myself and my little one opted to sleep on the sofa bed, and I have to say, it was really comfortable, it was really firm and having a bad back, the sofa gave me life. The only downside is the reception, my phone really didn't cope well, so it became a little difficult to arrange activities from the day before and being a neuro diverse family, the down times were hard, we only managed to stay 3 out of 7 nights as it was too much for them, but I know I would definitely go back, alone if I could. There is a meter there, which take £1 coins only, I kept forgetting to get cash and when I left the petrol st machine had broken, so keep that in mind. On the whole I had a great time, a word of warning even on a warm day, it gets very cold, but there is plenty heating for such moments. It's a great little place, I feel you have to be there to see it, because it keeps giving. To date one of my favourite places to stay, and I intend to return.

The wife and I spent a week in The Cabin during a sunny week during June ‘23.

Walking through the door led into a very spacious kitchen/dining/lounge area. Plenty of kitchen equipment to use during the week including a toaster that actually toasts both sides of the bread at the same time. 2 comfy 3 seater settees plus another settee that I presume makes up a secondary bed. We found plenty of heaters in various places but non needed this particular week, but there was a fan for cooling. Big tv on the corner with a dvd player under. Plenty dvd’s, as well as books and games as a tv alternative. The bedroom and en-suite shower room were both clean and tidy. Couple of wardrobes and bedside tables gave plenty of storage for a week. Beds are something of personal comfort, we found it to our liking and had good sleeps. The shower, subject to some adverse comments on here, performed really well. When tap turned full the spray was very powerfully. There is a notice to not turn the shower tap too much “on” so to get enough hot water for a shower. We did that and didn’t encounter a problem getting a hot shower. No problem. We enjoyed sitting on the veranda overlooking the garden, we enjoyed sitting in the “secret garden” out through the patio door. And we definitely enjoyed the company of the resident chickens, though I think their company would be optional. The hosts, Jane and Richard, are very friendly but definitely not overly so. We definitely enjoyed our stay in The Cabin.

The site managers were lovely especially the male, both were approachable and friendly.

The accommodation was warm and comfortable. There were no accessible hoover, brush or mop to be able to clean. We took our dog and it would have been nice to have been able to clean the floor after our walks. The Hot tub smelled very strong of cloreen that it stung our eyes, we even told them not to attend to it for the last 2 days. During our week stay we only used the Hot tub 3 times which was part of the reason for booking that location. When the jets were on in the Hot tub black bits came out and were floating about, we even had to buy a net to try to clean the black bits out. When we arrived we were informed that the games room and bar area was closed. This was disappointing as we had two 12 year olds with us who was looking forward to the games room. We were left a folder with how to work things in the accommodation, however the Wifi code never worked to either of the log ins given resulting in two very board children. The Sky TV was our saving although this was still limited. The log fire was lovely but again there were nothing to light it with and we had to go a purchase a lighter to light it.

We stayed for 3 nights as a mini honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect.

The pod was incredibly clean and every detail had been thought of, there were so many added comforts that were much appreciated, such as the blankets, the badminton set, the good quality towels, the really comfy bed and the nice crockery. We cooked some really lovely meals using the George Foreman bbq. It is located in the middle of nowhere, its 20 minutes drive to the nearest shop but we were happy with that, it was completely silent at night, other than the quiet humming of the hot tub and with such minimal light pollution we got amazing views of the stars at night. The hot tub was lovely, very clean and private and to sit in that and look out at the countryside was so relaxing! I have only scored a 7 on how likely I am to recommend to others because while we were there, our friends were asking for the details and when we went to send them, we realised the prices had more than doubled since we booked which I get, what with inflation but we won't be able to return again now as for the same money for us to spend 3 nights there, we could go abroad for a week.

We had a great week at this lovely cabin.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and we found everything we needed in the cabin. I’m surprised to read the previous negative review as we were very happy with our stay. There were three of us, with one older child sleeping on the sofa bed. She had no issues with this and found it comfortable. We were all able to take a shower as normal, the pressure was fine and leaving a short gap between guests having a shower solved the issue of continued hot water. The bed and sofas were perfectly comfortable (recliner sofas were nice to use at the end of a busy day). There were lots of utensils and the owners provided milk, tea and coffee - the free roaming chickens were great and eggs were left for us. There is not an oven as such but we were able to use the hob and use the microwave oven and grill to cook when we needed to. The cabin was very clean and nicely decorated. We would definitely return to this peaceful area and property and would recommend to others.
