What our customers say about their holidays

This is the best Sykes cottage that we have stayed at.

If you are looking peace and quiet, surrounded by beautiful scenery then this is the place for you. Liz and Andy are the the perfect hosts from start to hand and were always on hand to chat or to advise on the places to explore. When you arrive they provide a welcome pack that consists of local foods and that will cater to you. The lodge itself is cosy, set within the owners garden which is yours to explore and relax in. The owners maintain the garden well, with numerous paths to explore you will always come across something new. We were able to spend most nights in the decked garden area, using the fire pit for marshmallows one night. Our hosts even joining us and having a long chat. With being in the countryside you will get to see the stars out in force and will get to enjoy the call of many animals in the night including owls. The only downfall is eventually you have to leave at some point. Oh and whilst I remember our hosts surprised us with fresh scones which were yummy.

It's our 2nd time back, we loved it so much last August and we decided to come back this year as it's the most wonderful place to stay.

Liz and Andy the owners are so welcoming and approachable and will always take time out to talk to you. They joined us one evening outside when we had the fire pit on. The gardens are amazing and it was lovely to sit outside and listen to the owls and all the wildlife. It was so peaceful and relaxing. The lodge itself is cosy and comfy and has everything you need and we ate in most nights. The welcome pack was amazing and so were the scones that Liz made. Most evenings we went for a walk to watch sunset as they were stunning and then came back and sat in the garden. The only downside was coming home. It's one of my favourite places plus it's not far from lots of beautiful national trust places. If I could rate this 10 out of 10 I would. It's an ideal place for couples or people who just want to take time out.

Garden Lodge is excellent, really special in every way.

Although there is one tiny step into the property & a step up into the shower that did not hinder my mobility issues at all. It was a sheer joy to stay somewhere in which the owners have thought of everything in order to make your holiday relaxing, enjoyable and pleasurable. The country garden & Lodge is a delight. It is a holiday we will never forget. The owners great care and enthusiasm for both guests and their hideaway home is second to none. We were greeted with smiles from both Liz & Andrew, along with a refreshing social distanced cup of tea & natter in the garden. This couple are amazing. It may be their first season but they both would make great tutors for fellow holiday home owners. THANK YOU. The James, Devon

The Garden Lodge is a really well laid out accommodation; all of the fixtures & fittings are of a good quality & we loved the 'bee' theme throughout!

It was an excellent base for our hobby of geocaching with many series with in 20 minutes drive away but there are walks & cycle routes close by to enjoy the countryside too. We had a lot of rain but the lodge was so warm & cosy with a heated airer so drying our waterproofs out was not a problem! Liz & Andy were great hosts & we wanted for nothing; the welcome pack was the most generous one that we had ever had & Liz baked us delicious scones too! Our only regret is that bad weather meant that we could not spend much time in the beautiful gardens but that just means that we will have to return in sunnier climes!

We received a warm welcome on our arrival at the Garden Lodge.

The hosts willingly share their knowledge of the wildlife that visits their beautiful garden, and we felt privileged to be able to spend time there. Waking each morning to the sight and sound of a variety of birds in the trees was delightful. The Garden Lodge was inviting, warm and bright. It had everything that we could possibly have needed for our stay. The attention to detail was second to none and the Welcome Pack on arrival was a very pleasant bonus. Many thanks to Liz and Andrew. We had a very enjoyable stay at the Garden Lodge. Not only will we return but we will recommend it to others.
