What our customers say about their holidays

For the five of us (2 adults, 3 children aged 13,6,4) Kipling Lodge has been a fantastic, peaceful and tranquil holiday.

I usually always take cleaning products with me when I go on holiday but no need because the lodge was spotless. The attention to detail and the little extra's going that extra mile are what I feel make a holiday that little bit extra special. Soap, cleaning products, cloths, dish washer tablets,T.towels were all provided. It doesn't state that there is an iron and ironing board provided but there is. This lodge is beautifully refurbished to a very high spec. The beds and pillows are pure luxury are extremely comfortable, the best weeks sleep I've ever had. The kitchen goes beyond being fully equipped as there is an extensive range of crockery and utensils. We loved the heated hot tub, especially after long walks and despite the colder November weather, it was heaven to relax in the secluded hot tub. My two youngest children didn't like water on their faces but after a day in the hot tub, they both had the confidence to dunk their heads under water. The children particularly enjoyed playing with the giant Jenga game and the giant connect four. Set in a stunning, tranquil location along Rudyard Lake. Sainsbury's superstore is 7-10 mins by car for everything you need and Leek is 3 miles. Mathew (Matt) was the perfect host and he and Mark's hospitality was great! A lovely welcome gift of a bottle of wine on arrival was very much appreciated. Almost don't want to write a good review because I want to keep this little gem of a place secret! We will definitely stay at Kipling Lodge again in the future. Michelle, James and family

For the three of us, all over 60, admittedly, Kipling Lodge is now the benchmark other lodges will have to live up to and it is clear that the owners have not stinted in its refurbishment.

The lodge is incredibly high-end in terms of the quality of the fixtures and fittings. The kitchen is superb. The dinner service and matching oven to tableware is just beautiful and encourages the user to make the table presentation for meals more like a five-star hotel than a holiday lodge. The saucepans etc are also good quality as is the range of cooking utensils. The main bathroom is excellent and the shower is big enough for anyone to get in easily. The showers themselves in the main bathroom and in the ensuite are identical, but the cubicle in the ensuite is more challenging for those who are less flexible. Two bedrooms have 5’ beds and the third is two bunk beds. The underfloor heating can be zoned, so that the bedrooms remain cool whilst the main room is warm underfoot. The furniture in the main sitting area is also good quality and comfortable with a pleasant view over the well-maintained garden and grassy area beyond. The outside eating area is secluded and next to the hot-tub. We found the adjacent lakeside excellent and the Rudyard Light Steam Railway, which runs alongside the lake is an enjoyable resource, although we found it fabulous for walking the dog early in the morning before anyone else was up. Within easy reach is Leek, a charming market town which has a substantial Sainsburys and a big Lidl will opening soon. 30 minutes away is Buxton and Chester is about an hour and twenty minutes drive. We loved it and we will be back

Wow! What a great place to stay if you want to relax and explore the Peak District.

This Lodge is kitted out to a high specification, including a large Jacuzzi. It is set in a beautifully enclosed area where the birds and squirrels wake you up in the morning. The owner Matt was so helpful and ensured all our needs were met during our stay. We were a party of husband and wife and two children in their 20's, plus Digby the dog. 100 yards away behind a body of trees is the Rudyard Lake and small steam railway. The town of Leek is 5 minutes in the car for all your culinary needs, although there is a small shop on sit for any necessities. This place is so nice I actually didn't want to write a review so that we could go again without too much competition.Great WiFi reception, great TV, great Fridge Freezer, great underfloor heating etc.etc.. I could go on and on, but do yourself a favour and spent sometime here before it's booked out forever. Perfect place to return to each night after walks like The Roaches or Dovedale which were fabulous. Even found 'The Lazy Trout' Pub which was excellent! We are definitely going back soon for more of the same.John, Jeanette Harry, Maria and Digby....rated 5 'woofs'.

We had a lovely stay at Kipling lodge.

The lodge was super clean and well presented, very comfy with lots of little extras and amenities which were appreciated, simple things like hand soap at every sink, washing up liquid, salt and oil being very handy on the first night. The lodge is in a lovely location, quiet and rural, positioned near Rudyard lake which is a lovely walk to take. The hot tub was great and thoroughly enjoyed by all of us. The garden was a good size for our 2 big dogs and felt safe and secure. The open garden next to the lodge, was also handy to allow our dogs the freedom to run and chase a ball. Matthew the host was very helpful and friendly and was great at communication leading up to and during the stay. Thankyou for a lovely stay

We had a lovely week thank you.

Thanks for booking the sunshine. The enclosed garden in addition to the extra grassed area was great for the dog. Beautiful shaded walks in the area including round Rudyard Lake which has rowing boats for hire or pay a launch fee for your own craft or SUP. Lovely big hot tub and despite a previous review, there was an oven glove. The washing machine meant little washing to take home. The BBQ was great to use as a stand for our disposable tray. Things we missed from past cottage experience was a hairdryer (we would have taken our own but assumed there would be one), a pint of milk (but we could have taken some if it had been noted that there was no welcome pack). Mark & Matthew were very helpful.
