What our customers say about their holidays

    • Stevie - Verified booking

The property is beautiful, feels very luxurious and comfortable.

Beds are comfy and it's spacious. Hot tub was easy to work and thoroughly enjoyable with the stream running right past. Sadly there were a few negatives: - the place was filthy. It looked as though it hadn't been cleaned at all. Plates and bowls were displayed nicely on the dining table but I had to wash them all before use due to finger prints and dust. The bedroom was disgusting. Dust EVERYWHERE, even on bedside table and easy to reach areas. Around and behind the bed was horrific with some sweets on the floor and I found a massive man sized, bronze pyramid ring (hard to miss!). - All the window guards were broken away (usually these are in place to open and close as the person sees fit, but were completely removed). This made the place extremely cold but also bug infested. I'd hate to stay during summer and winter months when creepy crawlies are out and about. There were spiders and webs at every window except the door opening to the hot tub. These could really do with being repaired as not only would I not stay again due to bugs, but the cold air was constant. The sealant around the windows were also in desperate need of repair! Other than those 2 negatives, the place is very beautiful and I'd love to stay again if the window situation was repaired and the cleaning standards were raised. The place is easy to find and very peaceful. So I really loved my stay. Not much nearby, so take your own food etc.

We had a pleasant stay at 43 Burnside Lodge.

It was very well equipped, and comfortable, and the location of the park itself was ideal for all area's we were interested in for our week long walking holiday. I dislike having to give any negative feedback but feel I have to mention our disappointment on the cleanliness of the lodge. Although the towels/ bedding, worktops, and bathrooms were clean(apart from the grouting on tiles in the en-suite), the lodge had a fusty smell on our arrival, and looking at the cushions on the sofas, they could do with washing. The skirting boards were really dirty throuout the lodge and there were children's handprints on most of the windows(we didn't have children there). We also had to wash most the cutlery before using them. To me,these things should be checked and cleaned where necessary. The hot tub was a great addition, and we used it most evenings, and we really appreciated the prosecco and chocolates left by the owner. But,unfortunately,we probably wouldn't book again.

Really enjoyed our stay, able to drop our cases and relax in the hot tub as soon as we arrived, its home from home.

excellent location for touring Northumberland, site was clean and well maintained. Minor points, vacuum cleaner had to be emptied and filters cleaned before use and shower head in the main bathroom didn't work very well. however, these are very minor refinements and overall the property is fabulous and we will return without hesitation. Our dog settled in straight away too which was a bonus, he loved the enclosed veranda and was exhausted after all that running on the beautiful beaches. Thank you for the chocolates and wine, these were very welcome. We were impressed and comforted by how many dog friendly facilities there are, which meant we could eat out at ease and there was always a doggie treat awaiting. the Northumberland Arms was fab and even have a doggie menu. would highly recommend Burnside Lodge, I'm sure you will enjoy your stay as did we.

Cottage was immaculate and in a beautiful setting over looking the lake.

Host had left a welcome pack, including a dog bag with a ball, this was a lovely touch. The only recommendation I would make is that the holiday park is huge and not well sign posted when you enter. It was extremely hard to find the cottage on the site and I had to ask in the on site pub for directions (which they weren’t even sure about). I appreciate this isn’t the host’s responsibility but the park itself could do with directional signage to the correct roads within. Thankfully I arrived in the day but it would have been virtually impossible to find in the dark. That said, we had a fabulous stay. The location is in a prime spot for exploring. I would imagine the site is very busy in the summer but I would definitely visit again at quieter times as that’s just my personal preference.

We really enjoyed our stay at Bockenfield, however there is a few things that let it down for us.

We specifically booked a lodge with a dishwasher as it was Christmas, the dish washer was rubbish and worked once the week we were there. There is no cupboard space, we had 1 skinny cupboard that we could use. The kitchen isn’t thought through very well. The water supply was rubbish, the showers trickled and were luke warm. We tried showering at different times (as there was 2 showers) but this changed nothing. We would also suggest purchasing a rug for your living area as you are dog friendly however the flooring throughout is very shiny so quite slippery for our lab. We had to use fleeces as rugs for him. The hot tub was amazing which made up for it for us. The park was so quiet so was a lovely break for us all, just definitely a few things for the host to update we’d say.
