Parking was a little hard to understand in advance but there was a hand drawn map in the cottage that made it all apparent on arrival. The doorway to the kitchen was very small so great care should be taken when moving between rooms. The shower was powerful enough and lovely and warm. We enjoyed our day and would love to come back.

Low ceilings downstairs due to the age of the cottage, but the bedrooms upstairs are quite lofty in comparison. The cottage benefits from a lovely courtyard with the millstream running through it. The cottage was clean, and stocked with milk, tea, coffee and biscuits on arrival. Handsoap was provided in travel size bottles, shop bought would be a nicer touch and easier to use with wet hands. The cottage is 5 mins drive from Winnats Pass & a bit further on is the start to the Mam Tor walk. Ideally located for visiting the local caves. We can highly recommend the George pub for food (they even do takeaway pizza). We stayed on a particularly cold July weekend so might be nice to have the option of turning on the underfloor heating on in the bathroom, which would help with the dampness in here too. However all in all, a fabulous cottage in a perfect location.

Perfect location and, although small, still had everything we needed. We will stay there again if we ever go back to Castleton.
