About this property

Resting in the peaceful village of Hathersage, Derbyshire is 1 Orchard View, a traditional stone-fronted, semi-detached cottage, set over three floors. Ideal for a family or friends sharing, the cottage offers a brilliant multilevel garden and a outdoor woodburning stove, meaning it is ideal for a break at any time of year. As you arrive at the cottage, off-road parking for two cars greets you, before making your way into your home-from-home. Enter into the kitchen/diner to find all the appliances you need for a successful self-catering stay, including a gas hob, an electric oven, and that all-important dishwasher to help with the cleaning up. Rustle up a tasty meal for your loved ones in the kitchen, before sitting down to dine as you plan your day of adventures. From here, make your way to the sitting room to relax for the evening in front of the TV as the woodburning stove crackles nearby. As the evening draws to a close, head upstairs for some rest; the first floor offers a double with an en-suite shower room and a king, along with a bathroom where you can freshen up and prepare for your day, while the second floor is home to a twin, ideal for the children or friends sharing. In the warmer months, take advantage of the multilevel terrace gardens; each level has plug sockets for your entertainment needs and a barbecue and furniture is provided so you can dine alfresco. If you don't fancy cooking one evening, just a short walk from the cottage is the Restaurant at The Scotsmans Pack, where you can treat your loved ones to some delicious pub grub. For days out while at the cottage, be sure to explore the glorious Peak District National Park, where you will find an abundance of walking and cycling to enjoy. Within the area are a number of caverns such as Treak Cliff Cavern, Speedwell Cavern and Peak Cavern; take your time to discover the underground routes with a self-guided tour. Further afield is the bustling city of Sheffield, home to plenty of shops for a shopping spree, restaurants to fuel your excursions, and pubs and nightclubs for some evening entertainment. Climbing enthusiasts will be pleased to discover Stanage Edge which is reachable by car, while those who prefer a quaint stroll can spend an afternoon exploring the picture-perfect Sheffield Botanical Gardens. Bring your friends and family to enjoy a wonderful holiday at the lovely 1 Orchard View.

Situated in the Peak District at the start of the Hope Valley is the pretty village of Hathersage. The area is a haven for walkers and cyclists, with the excellent walking path, Edale, within easy reach. Popular among tourists is the grave of “Little John” (of Robin Hood fame), however his existence is still up for debate. Famous for being the inspiration of Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre is the Hathersage vicarage. There is also an array of shops, pubs and places to eat.

Warm and comfortable. Very quiet. The only sounds at night were owls. How lovely! Hathersage is a great base for walking. Stanage Edge is just above the village. Mam Tor and other wonderful walks are accessible via train or bus. A good car free base A wonderful week in a beautiful place.

It is a great place to relax whatever the weather. We had a couple of cold days that allowed us to enjoy the log burner! We found that we could manage to get our Mondeo down the lane and into the parking space with care. Being located in Hathersage the cottage is a perfect base for local walks - we enjoyed a great walk from the cottage up to and along Stannage Edge - and also for local attractions such a the Longshaw Estate, Padley Gorge, Eyam, Castleton Caves, The Great Ridge and Mam Tor. We would happily book to stay at 1 Orchard View again. The owners are lovely and so helpful.
