The Thatched Cottage in Westport offers a quaint and characterful holiday experience with stunning views and a peaceful setting. Guests appreciate the warm welcome, including the cosy peat fires and homemade scones, and find the property clean and comfortable. While some find the cottage's traditional features and rural charm delightful, others note its basic facilities and compact size. The location is praised for its beauty and proximity to local attractions.

Most guests found the cottage clean and comfortable, with only a few remarks about the need for deeper cleaning in certain areas. The positive comments suggest a generally high standard of cleanliness.

The location is highly praised for its stunning views, peaceful setting, and proximity to local scenery and attractions. Some guests were surprised by the proximity to other houses, but this did not significantly detract from the overall positive feedback.

Guests generally found the cottage cosy, especially with the fire lit, and suitable for small groups. However, some guests mentioned challenges with low door lintels, sloping floors, and a compact size, which affected the comfort level for taller individuals or larger parties.

The facilities received mixed reviews. While some guests were satisfied with the traditional and basic amenities, others found them outdated and in need of improvement, particularly the bathroom and kitchen facilities.

While guests mentioned receiving a warm reception and thoughtful touches like scones and a lit fire, there is not enough information to determine if such gestures are consistent across all stays. Therefore, a score cannot be provided, and guests should note that such gifts are not guaranteed.

The cottage was warm when we arrived, after an awful Irish Sea crossing and a windy drive across country. Mrs Heraty arrived shortly after we'd unpacked, and it was nice to be greeted by her. The cottage is ideal for the 2 of us plus dog. The daily challenge of getting the turf fire going gaves us plenty of laughs, but once going it was glorious. Remembering the cottage is over 200yrs old, it makes a perfect base to travel around Mayo and beyond. We will be back next year, God willing.

Quite small but it is very cosy and warm especially with the log burner fire. You are located quite far out from the town but the views are stunning. It was clean and had all the facilities that you need. Would recommend for anyone who wants to stay in a traditional Irish cottage and appropriate for all year round what ever the weather. We had a lovely time!
