While some minor cleanliness issues and limited outdoor space were mentioned, the overall experience is one of a cosy, spacious retreat with friendly, helpful owners.
Most guests found the cottage to be well-maintained, though there were isolated comments about finding dog treats in the rug and visible rubbish under the TV unit. These seem to be exceptions rather than the rule, indicating a generally high standard of cleanliness.

Lying at the southern end of the Peak District, Ashbourne is a perfect example of an English market town - market place with stalls, eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, coaching inns and almshouses. In its heyday in the 18th-century, the town was a fashionable social centre, and many fine Georgian buildings remain from this period. Today the town still has much to offer in terms of restaurants and inns and is regarded as something of a haven for antique hunters - but don’t expect a bargain! For those who prefer more outdoor pursuits, the Dove and Manifold Valleys are close by and for thrill seekers Alton Towers with its exciting collecting of rides and attractions is just a short drive away.

It is a lovely property and well thought out. It was just the kind of comfortable bolt hole we were hoping for!

The kitchen and bathroom are well equiped and there is a small garden at the rear fully fenced off. Despite the rather mixed weather, we were able to enjoy days out. The location makes it easy to reach many places of interest and if you want walks straight from the door, there are plenty of those available too. Amanda and Jon were lovely hosts, just next door if needed. We would certainly stay again, the dogs loved their week away, as did we. Many thanks.
Peter
The care and consideration that has gone into providing the accommodation is evident everywhere you look inside and out. We enjoyed travelling around the area to visit NT properties and surrounding countryside.
