About this property

Cockermouth 5 milesand Keswick 7 Miles. Swinside, a charming two-bedroom lodge located on the outskirts of High Lorton near Cockermouth and Keswick, enjoys vast views of the surrounding countryside, and looks out over to the Lake District National Park. Offering a well-equipped base for a self-catered break to the Lakes, Swinside welcome four guests and two furry companions, surrounded by rural panoramas and nature-filled walking routes. Take a moment to observe the silence as you park up and unload your belongings.

As you enter your new home by ascending the exterior steps, you will first meet to the open-plan living area, which is the heart of the home.

Here, you can prepare meals, gather to enjoy mealtimes, and unwind in front of the electric fireplace. When the weather permits, be sure to utilise the decked veranda, which is intended for an outdoor gathering with hillside views in the backdrop.

Rest and rejuvenate in one of the well-appointed bedrooms, which include a king-size with an en-suite cloakroom, and a twin, awakening to your morning routine in the shower room. Grab your walking shoes and start from Swinside to explore this lovely area.

Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 1133603, together sleeping up to 8 guests.

Despite being only 13 miles from Keswick, the sleepy agricultural market town of Cockermouth is located in the peaceful northwest region of the Lake District. The National Trust presently operates Wordsworth's Georgian family home on the main street, which is a well-liked tourist destination. The town is well-known for being the birthplace of both Fletcher Christian (of Mutiny on the Bounty fame) and William Wordsworth. Cockermouth has a nice selection of stores, bars, and restaurants, but (obviously) the area's major draw is the stunning scenery and fantastic hiking in the northern lakes, including Bassenthwaite Lake, Ennerdale Water, and Derwent Water.

We could just let them roam while we chilled. Central for all the surrounding areas which we visited would definitely recommend.

  • Lauren

We had a great week despite the awful rain and wind. Our little boy loved the farm animals.

  • Sophie

The location was perfect, so quiet and cosy. Exactly what was needed out of this trip! The dogs loved it too. Definitely want to come back again in the future.
