Gilpin View is a charming cottage in a picturesque, tranquil location, ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat with lovely gardens and the sound of a babbling river. The property offers a cosy atmosphere and is praised for its cleanliness, warmth, and well-maintained grounds. While some guests feel the decor and furnishings could benefit from modernisation, the rustic charm and cleanliness are consistently appreciated. The location is perfect for exploring the Lake District, with easy access to local attractions and walks.
The property is generally praised for its cleanliness, with guests noting it as clean and well-maintained. However, a few guests mentioned finding dog hairs and the need for a deeper clean in some areas, slightly lowering the score.
The location is highly praised for its beauty and tranquillity, with easy access to local attractions and walks. The proximity to a river and maintained grounds add to the appeal, making it an idyllic setting for a holiday.
Guests find the cottage cosy and the beds comfortable, but some reviews suggest that the furniture and beds could be updated for enhanced comfort. The presence of a modern bathroom is noted positively.
The facilities are adequate with a well-stocked kitchen and good internet speed. However, guests have suggested improvements in lighting, heating, and general maintenance. The lack of a dishwasher and some kitchen essentials were noted.
While some guests appreciated the welcome packs, there is insufficient information to determine a consistent level of thoughtfulness across all stays. Therefore, it cannot be guaranteed that such amenities are provided for every guest.

The sound of babbling water was a pleasure, and the clear skies gave us the opportunity to do some star gazing. The cottage had all the facilities we needed, although it was a little tired, and could do with some updating, including the furnishings and dĂŠcor. Some of the pans were quite greasy and therefore I felt I needed to wash all cutlery and crockery before using. The rug by the fire smelt of damp dog, and my two didn't go near it. The bathroom was new and immaculate, and the sheets and towels spotlessly clean. An early morning walk around the garden lead us to come face to face with a deer - nature at its best, and made our break!

No parking at front of property ( possibly due to building works on nearby property ) though plenty of parking to rear of property so not a big issue . Be aware that if arriving after 4pm in the dark that a torch is a must especially if parking to the rear as there is very little lighting other than an occasional security house light that didn't always come on . The property itself was clean and had all amenities required . Couldn't fault the 2 bedrooms and bed comfort along with the bathroom facilities . The living/dining area was more than comfortable with good broadband TV etc . A couple of minor faults would be the worn/damaged flooring around the kitchen area and the quality of the settee and chairs , though these did not distract from the overall positive experience of the property . One which I would have no hesitation in returning to
