Ust as lovely as it looks in the pictures!

Luxurious cottage in stunning village with incredible views! Thankyou for allowing us to stay, even though only 2 nights were available in this peak time. Garden secure & beautiful. Cottage excellent standard, lovely waterfall shower, clean & tidy. Had couple of maintenance things to report but Sykes / caretakers were quick to respond, so assume was sorted for the next people? These were that the wooden door covering the fridge door was hanging off and dangerous ( very heavy and ready to fall from a height). No tools available or we could have unscrewed the remaining hinge and at least made it safe. The kettle had a slow leak so sat in a puddle of water! Only other comment is that there were a few cobwebs ( handfuls when plugging things in!) and the towels were tiny/ thin. Have since visited 2 more Sykes cottages with thick large fluffy towels which emphasised the contrast. A note about the ‘short’ driveway might alsobe helpful to some - our average 4WD was a squeeze to close the gate, so had to unpack and let the dogs in/out with the gate open. A truck or van would not fit. Shap village very friendly & gorgeous abbey cafe on the high street. Greyhound inn great food again very friendly .Swimming pool was very cold. Nice to explore a different part of the lakes.

Sat-Nav thinks the property is on the left.

It's not. It's on the right. Which just goes to show how technology has improved our life. Without it though we may well have missed the turning to what was a quiet little cul de sac. The bungalow has two very narrow steep steps to enter, but once inside the property is in general excellent. Everything we might have wanted was there, along with a much appreciated little tray of goodies to welcome us. The beds were great, very comfortable and snug. We managed to figure out how everything worked, even when the hob and cooker managed to circuit break, we found the trip switch and got it working again. The property was very clean except for a rim around the bath, but we cleaned that off and all was well. The toilet seat was a little fluid, and needed anchoring, but we survived with no issues. We had two dogs with us, a cocker and a springer, and both appreciated the garden which was nice and secure. The property provided lots of poo bags, and dog treats, so they were made extra welcome. They had never seen cows before and having them in a field that looms over the back of the property was an interesting introduction resulting in much barking that eventually stopped by the end of the week. This was a lovely place, very welcoming and we would definitely go back again.

Our stay at Marsh Garth was perfect and we didn't want to leave.

It was lovely to be 'back home' for Christmas, staying near our relatives was really handy. The Marsh Garth cul-de-sac was very quiet, when we did see a neighbour whilst walking our dogs they were very friendly. The garden was lovely and great for our two dogs, both little & large (Patterdale Terrier and German Shepherd). The bungalow itself was very clean and comfortable with plenty of space, some areas bigger than they looked in the photos which was a bonus. We had great communication from both the property owner and Sykes and self check-in/out was quick & easy. We really appreciated the Christmas decor, the little snacky bits and dog treats. Although we always bring everything & more with us for the dogs, we always feel more welcomed with them when those little touches are in place. The information provided inside the property was detailed and clear and everything we could have ever needed was provided, plenty of kitchen items, even simple things like a pizza oven tray which many holiday homes don't have. Overall we had a lovely, comfortable stay, we felt at home and would definitely return and recommend. Thank you!

Lovely Bungalow The bungalow is in a quiet cul-de-sac which is ideally situated for both the estuary and Lake District National Park.

Lovely garden which our Sprocker Louie enjoyed and there is a lovely buttercup field overlooking the garden which had cows and their calves in which was lovely to look at. The bungalow was clean and very comfortable and the tray of coffee/tea/milk and chocolates was appreciated as were the dog treats left for Louie. The bungalow was well equipped with the exception of a hairdryer. This is the 5th property we have stayed in and this was the only one that did not provide a hairdryer. The only other minor gripe was the 2 very narrow steep steps to enter the property as they were that narrow that you had to put your foot on the side to get up and down them. As with others we wished there was more flexibility with the check-in and check-out times as check-out is 10am yet when we passed the property at 11am no one had arrived so check-out could have easily been 11am which would not have been such a rush for us to get everything done that the owners had asked (stripping the beds and hoovering everywhere). On the whole we had a very enjoyable time.

We had a nice stay in difficult circumstances after my mum died a few days prior to our arrival.

We've stayed here a few times now and really enjoy the location and hot tub. What we weren't so happy about was the way in which lakelovers handled the situation. I made a request to amend the dates last minute, not expecting this to be acceptable but felt it was worth asking, explaining I was caring for my mum as she received hospice care at home. The initial copy and paste reply I received to my message was, I feel, insensitive in the circumstances. I explained that Beth would use the property if we could not change dates but I would not be able to. Circumstances changed quickly so, after discussing with my family, we decided to travel a day later. On arrival we were told that the owner had checked with lakelovers and been told we were not coming. This hadn't been checked with me at all and was contrary to my message, so the heating had been turned off and though it was rectified immediately and caused us no further issue I feel a message to check our plans would have been more appropriate. I will avoid using Lakelovers in future.
