Beckside is a well-received cottage in Ambleside, praised for its cleanliness, comfort, and prime location. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, and the property's proximity to local attractions. While the steep drive is noted, the property's amenities and homely feel consistently win over visitors.
The majority of guests report the property as spotless and immaculately clean, with only a few minor comments about dust and cobwebs. The high level of cleanliness contributes positively to the overall experience.
The location is highly praised for its convenience, quietness, and accessibility to Ambleside and surrounding areas. The scenic views and proximity to walks and the lake are frequently mentioned as highlights.
Guests find the beds very comfortable and the living spaces cosy. Some comments about the sofas being past their prime and the steep drive suggest minor discomforts, but overall, the property is seen as comfortable.
The property is well-equipped, especially the kitchen, and guests appreciate the utility room and storage options. However, issues with the toilet flush, a damaged TV cabinet door, and a broken door catch indicate some maintenance concerns.
While guests find the property well-equipped and homely, there are no specific mentions of gifts or extra thoughtful touches that would warrant a score in this category. Therefore, the score is set to null.

Walkers can enjoy an excellent choice of peaks to roam, including Helvellyn, Red Screes, and Fairfield Peak all to the north of Ambleside, while heading south can bring you to the wondrous Grizedale Forest where you can delight in an adventure through the trees at Go Ape where zip-lines and rope courses offer an exciting day out! Store your bikes in the garage and bring them out to explore the Lakes on two wheels, with many cycling routes available to try. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the Lakes, returning each day to the comfort of Beckside.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

It felt like home from home. The property was clean and the beds were comfortable. The utility with washer and fridge freezer was particularly useful for a young family. Weâd definitely come back if we visited the area again.

Very comfortable house with a well equipped kitchen which made self catering very easy. Excellent location meant that we did not move the car all week as we either walked from the house or caught the bus. As others have said, we did not use the drive due to the gradient. We will definitely book again.
Jeffrey
Everything we could possibly need was in situ. Only problem was shortage of towels which turned up eventually but not before we had to purchase some.
