About this property

If you’re looking for a luxury Lakeland bolt-hole, with breathtaking views in a magnificent setting, The Stable at Oakbank is the place for you. As you sweep up the private driveway you’ll enjoy a first glance of the wonderful setting; slate steps into the conservatory and the open plan living space with sumptuous furnishings by the real fire; the modern sleek kitchen and outside with a raised patio area, perfect for al fresco living. A few minutes stroll and you are at picture- perfect Elterwater village, with its iconic 17th Century Inn – the Britannia, serving good food and local ales, and the Langdale Valley, with dozens of walks and cycle trails to enjoy. A short drive away is vibrant Ambleside and the shores of Windermere. A little further away is the lovely village of Hawkshead and Coniston Water. Back at the Stables, you’ll be nestled amongst the most scenic and dramatic mountains in the Lake District, with a plethora of eateries in walking distance as well as ‘The Brit’ – the Eltermere Inn, the Three Shires Inn, the Old Dungeon Ghyll and the Langdale Estate & Country Club, with a spa and pool, and with on-site pub Wainwrights.

Elterwater is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. A tranquil hamlet with its tiny ‘swan lake’, Elter Water, sitting at the gateway of the striking Langdale valley. The soft valley landscape is in sharp contrast to the steep jagged Langdale Pikes. Elterwater sits between Ambleside and Great Landgale, where at the top of the valley the infamous Wrynose Path is the only way out of the u-shaped valley, giving it a superb sense of seclusion. The larger towns of Grasmere and Ambleside are both less than 4 miles away providing a host of options for shopping and eating out.

. This place is an absolute charm. A beautiful setting with a perfect location. If you just want to park up and walk the lakes with a rucksack then this is the place. A romantic little getaway whilst holding all the charm of the lakes in this property, a proper home to home vibe.. and the patio with the views in the morning was a perfect way to start our day! The walks from your door are too endless to mention. Five gold stars for the owners of this one.

The conservatory is a real bonus and adds greatly to the appeal of the place. Location could not be better with walks starting straight from the door. Only slight niggle is the size of the sink in the bathroom which is little small and made difficult to use by the single tap in the centre. This won't stop us coming back.
