Enjoying a tranquil setting with mesmerising rural views over the surrounding countryside and yet close to the charming town of Alnmouth, the property is in the perfect location. Inside, the accommodation is extremely well-presented and surprisingly spacious. The open-plan living space is bursting with character with features such as wood panelling, original stone flooring, feature picture windows and an ornamental fireplace helping to create a beautifully cottagey vibe. The woodburning stove offers the perfect spot for curling up together and making the most of your romantic break. The chic kitchen is comprehensively fitted with everything needed to be able to create a whole host of delicious meals for your loved one and there’s enough room for an intimate dining area where you can look forward to long, lazy meals together. If the sun is shining, then you can throw open the patio doors and enjoy some alfresco dining on the outside patio area and really soak up the views and stretch your legs in the ample gardens. There’s even a barbecue! Situated just 4 miles east of Alnwick, Alnmouth is a charming resort popular with golfers and those seeking a peaceful holiday. The village lies on a narrow spit of land between the River Aln and the North Sea and was originally the port for Alnwick. Nowadays the area has returned to its unspoilt origins and offers a good variety of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as an excellent “links” golf course and some great rivers for fishing, as well as boasting miles and miles of splendid beaches and sand dunes to explore which afford stunning views of the North Sea. A short drive will bring you to Alnwick with its famous historic castle, The Alnwick Garden housing the Poison Garden which runs guided tours through dangerous botanicals and a variety of pubs and restaurants. Alnmouth is well situated for exploring Northumberland.

We instantly feel relaxed as soon as we arrive, the house is cosy and warm (weâve only ever needed to use the wood burner once) and we love the space, inside and out. We donât tend to cook evening meals when we are on holiday as we prefer to eat out or get a takeaway, but there is plenty of equipment in the house for making breakfast/lunch. Our dog sadly passed away in April, but he loved the garden whenever he came to the house and was always very relaxed. The house is well located & we enjoyed walking into Alnmouth or driving to the many sights in the area. Alnmouth train station is a short walk down the hill so we went to Edinburgh for the day which was about 1 hr 15 and a scenic journey. We loved watching trains pass over the viaduct, and occasionally the cows would come up to the house. The dark sky is amazing and weâve seen a few shooting stars. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights from the garden this time which was an added bonus!

The view is amazing! Access was ok for us but wouldnât suit wheelchair users or anyone not keen on stone steps. Clean inside, with a wet room & hot shower. Kitchen has dishwasher & washing machine, fairly new. Also a microwave (less new). Picnic tables & bbq area (a bit neglected but quite sound). Pleasant garden but it has a drop into the next field, so elderly or excitable dogs need supervision. Rest of garden is enclosed & nicely managed. Good location for all the coastal attractions- we are considering returning next year

It looked tired and in need of a complete make-over. Bearing in mind we have booked many Sykes properties before, and without exception theyâve all been good to excellent, this one was a huge let down. We have made our views clear to Sykes. We have always looked upon Sykes properties as being top quality because you always know their advertised holiday homes will be of a good standard. The Huffy House, as it presently stands is not, in our view, of the standard weâd expect and the photos of it on the website must surely be quite dated now. So very disappointing.
