What our customers say about their holidays

    • Audrey - Verified booking

The property was perfect, although a little difficult to find at first, a passerby pointed me in right direction.

Everything in the property was great quality, and perfect for one person or a couple. There were nice touches like bread, milk and butter, biscuits etc left. I was confused that there was a two ringed cooker but no pots, or maybe I missed them? It did have a full sized oven and microwave so not really an issue. There was a little seating area outside for eating, or enjoying a morning cuppa. The bed was very comfy, the only thing I didnt like was that there was nothing to open the windows with and I was too short to open them or close the blinds, it was a very warm week so would have been good to get some air. I also was unsure what to do with the rubbish, I didn't see anywhere to empty the bin? The village of Lesbury is beautiful, has a lovely pub, a welcoming local shop (steak pie was amazing) and is in very close proximity to Alnmouth train station and the X18/20 bus stop was just next to property. There is also a Morrisons next to the bus station in Alnwick for supplies. There are loads of lovely walking routes and cycle paths, only a 15/20 mins walk into Alnmouth which has a beautiful beach and it's a haven for bird watching. I would definitely recommend Warkworth Castle which is only 4 miles away. I loved the area and will be back again in the near future, possibly with friends.

Our second year in a row here at Waleric House and just as excellent as last year. Next summer is already in the diary. The boys have loved the beach and we’ve ventured much further up this year as well as across the river at low tide. Watch out for Jelly Fish! Much less cooking this year – culinary delights include, The Potted Lobster @ Bamburgh, The Running Fox @ Longhoughton, pizzas from The Red Lion, dinner at The Hope & Anchor, toasties, Portuguese tarts and sausage rolls from Scotts up the road. Dinner at The Whittling House and sausage sarnies from the Geordie Banger Company in Amble Harbour Village. I nearly forgot the ice cream from Spurellis in Amble, a double scoop is huge. The weather has been unpredictable, but it hasn’t stopped us from enjoying the beach every day. This year we also found our way to Sugar Sands Beach near Longhoughton. Stunning. Many thanks, Joanna for providing this beautiful house in such a great setting. The little touches like the bread, scones and making sure there’s milk in the fridge all add to the feeling of being in a home from home. Can’t wait for next year!

We have stayed in Alnmouth many times but it was our first time here and it definitely was the wow factor! Love it! As usual with Coquet Cottages the standard was very high and the welcome pack was very generous. Reggie the dog loved his special dog biscuits thank you. The Red Lion is always good for a drink and they do nice pizza. The Hope and Anchor was good for take away. The harbour fish bar in Amble was excellent. The Fish Shack has great food, the Sun Inn in Warkworth was a sheltered but sunny spot for drinks. We did the walk round the estuary, which then leads to the golf course and back onto the vast beach for bird spotting, where did some rock pooling. The river walk around Warkworth and along to Amble was enjoyable. We visited Barter books in Alnwick on a rainy day. Cragside estate is worth a full day out. Another fab time in Alnmouth.

Finally made it after our March booking fell victim to Lock down. We are frequent visitors to the North East and its been our third visit to Alnmouth. This house is the nicest, its an architectural gem from a family that knows its architecture! The family cyclist spent mornings in The National Park (Rothbury, round Harbottle and Callaly). The rest of us walked on the beach eating cakes and drinking coffee. We had lunch at Scotts and The Old Schoolhouse Gallery who do fantastic lunches by ‘Earth and Sea’.Tuesday-Friday do a half lobster salad which was *****!The Sun Inn has good pub grub and nice beers. We definitely will be back and its booked already!

We have had a lovely stay in this beautiful home with all the comforts provided, including a lovely welcome hamper. We have been to this area a number of times. For food we used Scotts of Alnmouth just on the high street for some lunches and dinners. The Mason Arms in Warkworth has a lovely sheltered garden to eat in, and we did the river walk afterwards. The Rocking Horse Cafe off the A1 at Rock, was dog and family friendly with a lovely garden. The Red Lion in the village did good pizza and there is a nice beer garden. We had lovely weather and covered most of the beaches. Cragside was well worth the visit. Thank you for sharing your home with us.
