My family and I have just returned from a long weekend at Honeypot House in Wooler. We could not recommend a better place to base yourselves in Northumberland! The cottage was beautiful. The owners had thought of everything to make you feel comfortable and relaxed on arrival, the baskets of goodies for us and Penny the dog instantly made us feel at home! The rooms were furnished to an excellent standard and the beds made for a night of complete rest & relaxation. The kitchen was large and well equipped, and the log fires made settling in for the evening with the family a pleasure to snuggle up on a cold, dark Northumberland evening. Obviously with a glass of red to compliment the atmosphere. The garden provided a place of tranquillity to exercise Penny the dog and my grandson “Hudson” knowing that they were safe in a large enclosed place. We were next to the river Coquet and within easy walking distance of Warkworth village centre that had enough local amenities to keep us happy. I would thoroughly advise people to spend a few happy days here, relax and enjoy the countryside and make wonderful memories!

We never got to stay in bramble cottage at the last minute the owners contacted us and told us that Bramble cottage was unavailable due to maintenance issues so we were given a cottage called periwinkle.

they told us it was an upgrade over bramble cottage this again is a lie bramble had a four poster bed periwinkle has a normal double, Bramble has a really large kitchen, Periwinkles kitchen is tiny in comparison the décor in Bramble is much nicer there are big beautiful windows at bramble and Tiny little windows at periwinkle before arrival we asked if we could have Lavender cottage as that looked nicer than Bramble but were told outright flat NO as they said it was booked even though there website said it was available the lady on the phone was really rude to my wife and said that is all we have take it or leave it end of conversation, upon arrival and the main reason for being unhappy we found another couple STAYING IN BRAMBLE the cottage we had booked and were told we could not have due to maintenance issues so they had clearly LIED there was no maintenance issue with bramble cottage they had clearly given the cottage to someone else even though we had booked it through yourselves

The cottage was beautiful however, due to a power cut 2 hours into our holiday we were without any electric, heating or phone connections for the whole 3 days!

!!! We have stayed at this property before, so we are aware that the owner only lives 3-4 minutes away, however they never bothered to check if we were ok. The whole of the village was without power, so they would have been aware. There was no torch or candles left and no wood for the log burner, which would have been the only form of heat we had, the temperature got down to minus 3. All of the food we had taken went off, due to having no electricity, so that was £75 worth of food gone!!! All we had was bread but nothing to put on it, as the butter had gone off!!! We were unable to call the people who had dropped us off to come and collect us, so we had no option but to stay until we were picked up 3 days later. All in all, it was an absolute disgrace and no offer of any kind of recompense!!!

There were 7 adults in the party, 3 couples plus one single person and a husky.

We found the Cheviot Hills and Wooler to be an excellent location for our different interests. We are walkers, birders, historians and shoppers and all found something to suit our tastes. The house was clean, warm, comfortable and plenty large enough with four good size bedrooms downstairs and 4 bathrooms ( 2 en suite). The kitchen was well equipped and the lounge and dining room easily large enough for all of us. It was a pleasure to sit out on the decking, and in the hot tub, with views over the town and of the surrounding hills. The town has a range of shops and food establishments that will cater for most needs. There was so much for us to see and do in the area. We would be happy to go back for another holiday there and do the things we didn’t have time for on this holiday.

Honeypot House is a beautiful property which had exactly the right number of bedrooms and bathrooms we were looking for. There was so much to like about this house. It was spacious, had plenty of room for us all and a generous size kitchen. It was lovely to have en-suite bathrooms for all the bedrooms, which was so helpful with nine of us in the property. Beautifully decorated throughout and spotless. The welcome basket was the best we have ever had! It even included a card and two gifts for my mum as it was her 80th birthday. She was very touched by the owners thoughtfulness. Honeypot House is a real credit to the owner’s. We know that any Coquet Cottages are of a high standard, but this blew us away. We had the best time!
