Guests say

Goosander is a well-equipped cottage in Northumberland, praised for its superb location with sea views and proximity to the beach. It's ideal for families and dog owners, offering spacious rooms with en-suites and quality appliances. Guests appreciate the enclosed outdoor space and welcome basket, though some noted the need for updates to sofas and mattresses.

The property generally maintains good cleanliness, with some guests finding it clean and spacious. However, a few noted areas needing improvement, such as bird droppings outside and dog hairs in a bedroom, suggesting the need for a more thorough clean in some instances.

The location is highly praised for its amazing views and proximity to the beach, making it great for families and dog owners. The scenic setting and ease of access to local attractions contribute to its high rating.

While the property offers en-suite double rooms and is well-received for space, several guests reported the sofas and beds as low, lumpy, and uncomfortable, indicating a need for updates to enhance comfort.

Facilities like the infrared sauna and hot tub are appreciated, but guests have reported maintenance issues such as heating problems and potholes on the access road. Some appliances also require attention, which affects the overall experience.

Guests have mentioned a lovely welcome basket, which reflects thoughtfulness. However, it should be noted that such gestures, while appreciated, may vary and are not guaranteed for every stay.

Explore the coast of Northumberland with a stay at the beautiful Goosander.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Directions could be better(need updating). One or two issues with maintenance, light bulbs need changing etc(owners feedback form filled in to list and highlight these). Main complaint as with previous people is the seating in the living area which is low and gives no support(we all have back ache now).

    Thank you so much.

The comfort level and cleanliness left a lot to be desired. The fabric sofas were dated, extremely low with no support at all. The beds were lumpy and hard. On arrival directly outside the lounge patio door there was lots of bird droppings and tissue paper, we hosed this down ourselves. The patio windows were filthy. There was a birds nest directly outside lounge door which made the hot tub unusable (I must add the maintenance people did not seem aware of the nest or droppings and did offer to move etc but due to the birds flying over so low and droppings we felt this wouldn’t work) . Dogs hairs on carpet in bedroom, plus a sock under the sofa. It generally felt like the house needed a good clean.
