Guests say

The Long Barn in Northumberland receives high praise for its peaceful location, spaciousness, and cleanliness. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities, comfortable furnishings, and the thoughtful welcome provisions. While some minor maintenance issues and suggestions for improvement are noted, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing a desire to return.

Most guests found The Long Barn to be clean and tidy upon arrival, contributing to a comfortable stay. However, a few guests mentioned that certain kitchen items needed additional cleaning, and one review cited overall cleanliness as an issue, slightly lowering the score.

The property's location is highly praised for its tranquillity and proximity to beautiful beaches and attractions. The rural setting offers stunning views and a peaceful retreat, making it an ideal base for exploring Northumberland.

Guests consistently report that The Long Barn is comfortable, with special mentions of the cosy underfloor heating and comfortable beds. The spacious living areas and garden add to the comfort of the property. Some guests noted creaky beds and a desire for better lighting, which slightly affects the score.

The property is well-furnished with modern appliances and a range of amenities that cater to different age groups. Some guests suggested improvements such as additional kitchen storage and outdoor furniture. Maintenance issues like a warped door and heating concerns were also mentioned, leading to a slightly reduced score.

While many guests were delighted by the welcome provisions, such as bread, milk, and even a bottle of wine, there are not enough reviews explicitly mentioning these gestures to accurately score the category. It should be noted that such provisions are a courtesy and not guaranteed.

The coastal town of Berwick has a fascinating history. It is the most northern town in England and as such has been the subject of bitter battles over the centuries, as first English and then the Scottish sought control. In all, it changed owners 14 times before ending up south of the border. The narrow streets are, even now, protected by sturdy walls from the Elizabethan era. The townspeople are proud of the Maltings Arts Centre, which offers a hugely varied programme of music, theatre and other entertainment. Berwick also has fine shops, pubs and restaurants and families will enjoy the leisure centre with its wave pool. There is also first-rate fishing, horse-riding and golf on offer locally. The seaside town of Spittal, which boasts beautiful sandy beaches, is only two miles away and the whole Heritage Coastline is easily accessed.

We had an issue with losing the front door key which was efficiently rectified by Skyes and Andy the owner. We have stopped here for holidays in the past and we love its rural location and the property suits our needs. It’s a great base to travel around the local area and l would recommend it.

Perfect size with All the facilities required for our stay. Lovely touch leaving us a Welcome Pack Conte biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, long life milk, and a bottle of Prosecco. Very welcome after a long journey. Good size garden and enough privacy. Peaceful retreat, but with access to lovely beaches nearby and small towns Would definitely go again
