What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ellen - Verified booking

The cottage is fantastic and perfect for our group of 6-8.

All the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the location is perfect for Northumberland. The kitchen was our main area for gatherings with a huge table. The lounge was spacious but also had a cosy feel. The bedrooms were lovely and with additional storage on the landing which is a great use of space. Our constructive criticism would be that the showers in the en suites need attention. They are temperamental with both switching off at times, although we had been forewarned. As with previous comments, a must in the kitchen is a larger or additional toaster. 2 slices at a time is just not sufficient for the house size. An air fryer may also be an option as the aga style cooker is not for everyone due to the time taken to heat up. We would also recommend new pillows AND pillow protectors and possibly a new mattress on the single bed closest to the door. Also for information, each bin is collected fortnightly on Mondays. We put the black one out on Sunday night but it was full to the brim when we arrived as was the recycling one so maybe extra black bags to allow for this? However, and we stress this. These issues are minor compared to the benefits of this beautiful cottage and we would return to this property the next time we visit this area.

We fell in love with the cottage and the area during our stay.

The cottage has everything you need that makes you feel comfortable and at home very quickly. We loved the layout and it’s was so clean and smelled amazing. Especially as it’s a carafe that allows pets there wasn’t a smell of them anywhere which was really nice. The village itsself was perfect, quaint little place. It was really quiet and the local shop, butchers and pud where brill. We are at the pub every night, Propper pub that serves Propper pub food that wasn’t too fancy or expensive. The local river and woodland walk was stunning, aswell as days out to holy island and bamburgh. We loved Norham and I really didn’t want to leave. We will certainly be booking this little cottage again. Only issues I would say is the top step in the garden that leads you up to the patio is loose, and the bathrooms sink plug fixing doesn’t raise, so drains very slowly. Cannot recommend Skye’s enough, the agent found this little cottage for us and from booking to arriving it was easy and perfect.

      Love this property.

We stayed last year and loved it so much we decided to come back. The house has everything you could want. It's lovely and relaxing and we love the village. The village has a local shop as well as a bakery and pub . Beautiful walks and of course the Castle with all its history. Norham is close to lots of Northumberland and plenty of places to visit. Both Alnwick and Bamburgh Castle are a short drive away. As is Holy Island and Berwick-Upon-Tweed. Also plenty of Scottish towns and places of interest nearby. It was nice after a very busy day to come back to the cottage and read and relax . Loved that the cottage is right opposite the local church which if you walk through will take you right down to the river. One last thing to note was my husband accidentally shut the front door with our housekey inside. We rang Sykes up who contacted the owner. The problem was sorted so quickly and it was nice and reassuring to know .

A stunning, high end decor property, beautiful furnishings and fittings.

.could live there .its extremely spacious, Garden self contained for dogs , property in a quiet area , 5 mins to Berwick approx 10-15 to holy island. 25 mins Bamburgh, 20 Alnwick.. so its ideal for sight seeing. Warm property , if cold heats quickly, great showers and soft towels.. If you think your missing wardrobes in middle two rooms, there's huge wardrobe storage cupboards on the landing too. In general well equipped, would benefit from more pans / frying pans, there was not one , and needs clean good condition baking trays ,they weren't really good to use.. Also take washing up liquid and hand soap, there was none. Also a dressing table or two in a few rooms would make it perfect, Thanks for the welcome goodies, will definitely return.

Calm Skies is a beautiful house, plenty of room for five adults and our dog.

This is our second visit to Calm Skies. We were greeted to a lovely welcome gift consisting of Prosecco, crisps and chocolate cookies. There was also a carton of milk in the fridge so we could have a cuppa when we arrived. The house is very nicely situated close to the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed and a very short drive to Holy Island, Bamburgh and Seahouses. Calm Skies is in among residential properties but is a very quiet area and the neighbours were very friendly. The house is very comfortable and clean and has all the amenities that you could wish for. The garden is private and has a number of sitting areas with table and chairs provided. I would have no hesitation in recommending Calm Skies to other visitors and will certainly go back again.
