About this property

Tucked away in the delightful coastal town of Amble, Northumberland, is this contemporary, detached property, Bisley House. Wonderfully presented over two floors, this property enjoys a great position for accessing the Northumberland Coast AONB and Northumberland National Park, whilst also being close to many attractions and amenities and welcomes five guests and their canine companions. Internally, the ground-floor features splendid living areas, with the kitchen housing all the necessities for preparing home-cooked meals, which can be enjoyed in the dining room, whilst the sitting room is where you can grab a seat and keep warm beside the woodburning stove. As the evening draws to a close, venture upstairs and relax in the bedrooms, with a king-size, double with en-suite shower and a single on offer, serviced by a refreshing bathroom with choice of bath and shower over. There's also a choice of fabulous restaurants, including Jasper’s Bistro which specialises in seafood. Head to Hauxley Nature Reserve for a gentle stroll, visit Drurdige Bay Country Park for a lake and dunes, or wander along the harbour wall in Amble and watch the boats bob with the tide. A little further away lies Morpeth, a historic market town with fascinating attractions including Morpeth Chantry and Carlisle Park, or you might fancy a trip to Newcastle where you can sample city life and visit the Angle of the North. Choose Bisley House and start planning your holiday itinerary today.

Amble, a bustling small harbour at the River Coquet's mouth, is a great starting point for exploring Northumberland. In addition to sandy beaches, a marina, a harbour, and coastal hikes to the bird sanctuary at Hauxley and the national park at Druridge Bay, Amble, once a centre for boatbuilding, offers all of these amenities. A variety of fish, prawns, crabs, and lobsters are landed by the large fishing boats that are moored around the harbour wall. On the side of the harbour is a fish centre that sells local fish and is available to the public. It is currently mostly a shellfish hatchery to restock levels of lobster and other shellfish. Coquet Island, an rspb reserve with a sizable population of terns, puffins, and eider ducks, is located one mile south of Amble. Boat tours around the island can be booked. A short drive will take you to attractive Alnwick with its castle and award-winning gardens, charming Warkworth with its castle, and the National Trust's Wallington Hall and Cragside, in addition to a number of excellent beaches and charming coastal villages.

What a lovely cosy clean and well equipped house. The welcome pack was amazing and much appreciated. The garden was secure and great for our 2 spaniels. The house is well located for the local shops which are only 5 minutes walk away. The beach is a 5 minute drive as is the large Morrisons Supermarket. We would definitely recommend this house and to prove that, we have already rebooked for the beginning of February 2025.

The owner, Russ, could not have been more helpful. He got in touch before the visit to give guidance and we knew from the start that he would be on hand if necessary but would never be intrusive. On arrival a very generous ‘Welcome’ pack and wine had been left for us, together with a lovely card from Russ. The house was spotlessly clean and It had been refurbished to a very high standard. The furnishings were tasteful and the property was very well equipped. Even though our stay was in October the house was very warm indeed. If we had wanted to we could have lit the wood burning stove which had been primed with paper and logs. Upstairs the beds were very comfortable. Our son and his wife joined us with their one year old and a very good quality cot and high chair were ready and waiting. Stair gates had been fixed to the top and bottom of the stairs. Parking was easy and the street was very quiet. The centre of Amble was a short 10 minute walk away and the harbour was just 20 minutes away by foot. I can highly recommend Bisley House for a stay. Many thanks to Russ, who is a wonderful host.

Spotlessly clean and clearly recently decorated. Very spacious with an ideal, safe and enclosed garden for our dogs which surrounded the detached cottage. Ideal. Some lovely walks nearby too. Highly recommended!
