About this property

This warm and comfortable cottage enjoys an enviable location in the village close to the local beach for bird watching and paddling and within easy walking distance of the friendly village pub/restaurant. Walk to Low Newton beach (0.6 miles) for drinks at the beachside pub before a family stroll on the sand to Embleton beach and village. Head to Dunstanburgh Castle and take the coastal path to the pretty harbour village of Craster for fabulous seafood. You can also walk to Beadnell Bay for a picnic to watch or try the water sports and lunch in the beachside café or village pub/restaurants. Golf lovers are also spoilt for choice with several scenic courses nearby. A short drive (9.3 miles) takes you to Bamburgh Castle, its renowned village amenities and beach and Seahouses’ harbour offers boat trips to the Farne Islands for superb birds, seals and puffins in the season.

This inviting semi-detached property offers space, light and comfort for a relaxing family holiday. Head in through the useful porch at the side of the house where you can store outdoor clothing, walking boots and wellies. The open-plan layout on the ground floor means there is plenty of room for everyone to be together and have their own space. The cosy lounge has comfortable seating where you can unwind in front of the wood burner for a cosy evening playing board games and reading, and there is a Smart TV for movie nights. The well-equipped kitchen has more than everything you will need to prepare a range of tasty meals and drinks for everyone, and the dining area is set in the conservatory overlooking the garden with a door leading outside so you can enjoy indoor/outdoor living. There is also a utility room and a contemporary bathroom on the ground floor. On the first floor, you will find three bedrooms, a super-king-size with two windows offering views across the countryside towards the Cheviot Hills, a king-size and a smaller bedroom with a double bed and views across the village green. The shower room completes the accommodation.

Outside to the rear, there is an enclosed garden with a picnic-style table for alfresco dining and lovely views across the neighbouring farmland. Sit here after dinner with a drink and gaze up at the stars in Northumberland’s renowned Dark Skies.

      we had a lovely stay at Driftwood - the beds are all really comfortable and the house was plenty big enough for our needs. The only queue was for the bathrooms. Great to have additional fridge / freezer space and a washing machine. A great base to explore Northumberland Thanks for having us.
