About this property

This charming studio cottage is part of the former station master's house, in the hamlet of Liverton Mines on the outskirts of Loftus village. Offering all ground floor accommodation, the property has been tastefully modernised to a high standard. Entry is via a porch to a small kitchen, which leads into the spacious open plan studio, which incorporates a comfortable sitting area, a dining table and a double bed, plus there is a contemporary fully-tiled shower room. With fine attention to detail, the property feels warm and welcoming, in a pleasant setting. Outside, to the rear is a private patio garden, directly adjacent to a commercial goods train line, with six trains trundling by each day. This is not a fast or noisy line, and will undoubtedly interest railway enthusiasts. In fact, part of the fencing has been cut away to afford a better view! Close to some lovely sandy beaches and excellent walking trails, this station annexe is well placed for couples wishing to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside and the popular seaside towns of Saltburn and Whitby. The nearby fishing villages of Staithes and Runswick Bay have strong Captain Cook connections, with small, pretty coves, coble landings and quaint, tiny fishermen's cottages that tumble down towards the sea. Explore the narrow, cobbled alleyways and partake in coffee and cakes on the waterfront. The wide expanses of the North York Moors are on the doorstep, with many attractions, including fishing on the nearby Scaling Dam, the Danby Moors Tourist and Exhibition Centre and the steam railway at Grosmont. An excellent base for a varied and interesting holiday.

The village of Loftus lies on the east coast of Yorkshire and was a mining village. It has a main street with a variety of shops, restaurants and pubs. Four miles to the north is the Spa town of Saltburn with its long pier.

It's perfect for us. When we pull up outside my Husband says we are home. Back again in a couple of weeks. Brenda & David the owners are such nice people. They keep the place spotless. It's also in a prime position for visiting other areas. Not too far from the coast or little towns. We just love it ❤️

Perfect for two, with all required amenities. Brenda is a very kind and thoughtful person, providing us with good local touristic information and some welcome, surprise goodies like the very tasty lemon cake and shortbread. Thanks also for the pasta pan.

  • Margaret

really nice clean studio accommodation. Brenda is such a welcoming friendly lady,(even cake and biscuits for us). the property is on a sharpish bend, something to be aware of if reversing the car . good bus stops locally , plus the goods train going past the garden is quite something.. the road is as busy as you would expect for a main Rd into town. A very relaxing stay,
