Cherry Tree Cottage receives high praise for its cleanliness, cosy atmosphere, and thoughtful touches such as homemade scones and treats for dogs. The hot tub is a highlight, providing relaxation after exploring the beautiful surroundings. Guests appreciate the well-equipped facilities and the helpfulness of the hosts, Andy and Clare. While some minor issues are mentioned, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly positive, with many guests eager to return.
Reviewers consistently mention the cottage's spotless condition upon arrival, indicating a high level of cleanliness that contributes to the overall welcoming experience.
The cottage is praised for its beautiful surroundings and central location, although one review mentioned the proximity to a main road. However, this does not seem to detract significantly from the guests' enjoyment.
Guests describe the cottage as cosy, beautifully furnished, and equipped with creature comforts, suggesting a high level of comfort throughout their stay.
Facilities are generally well-received, especially the hot tub. However, a few guests noted the absence of terrestrial TV and a need for clearer instructions for the TV, which slightly impacts the score.
The hosts' thoughtfulness is frequently highlighted, with special mentions of welcome packs and dog treats. While these gestures are greatly appreciated, it is politely noted that such extras, while common, are not guaranteed for every stay.

The historic market town of Chesterfield acts as the gateway to the Peak District, and has much to offer visitors. The town is famous for its 14th Century church with "Crooked Spire", twisting curiously from its true centre, while the frequent bustling market days are ideal for exploring the many different specialist shops and stalls which line the old Market Hall and charming Shambles beyond. The town also boasts Queens Park, with its lake, walks and summer bandstand, as well as a museum and theatre. Nearby, the Elizabethan Hardwick Hall is still impressive today, with its 6 grand towers elaborately monogramed with Bess of Hardwick’s initials, overlooking the superb gardens and walled courtyards of the grounds. Also popular is the semi-ruined 17th Century mansion of Bolsover Castle, set high on a wooded hilltop, looking west towards the heights of the Peak District. Chesterfield has a host of other attractions within easy reach, such as Chatsworth and Haddon Hall, the amenities of Matlock and Bakewell, or the opera at Buxton. An interesting base for a varied break.

Weâve just had the most relaxing holiday at Cherry Tree Cottage. The cottage is furnished to an extremely high standard and is just so lovely! Everything and anything you could possibly need or wish for is provided. On arrival we briefly met Andy the owner who greeted us warmly, and once entering the cottage we noticed refreshments had been left for us, milk, juice, bottled water and home made scones with a dish of butter and jars of jam, a welcome and lovely gesture. The hot tub was fabulous, we purposely went in it late afternoons as it started to get dark and the view was breathtaking and listening to the wildlife, owls in particular was just wonderful. We would definitely like to return and recommend Cherry Tree Cottage 100%.

From the moment we arrived, the picturesque surroundings approaching the cottage and the warm, inviting atmosphere of the cottage made it feel like a home away from home. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed, seamlessly blending traditional charm with modern comforts. The decor strikes a perfect balance between rustic elegance and practicality. The living room, with its cozy fireplace, invites you to curl up with a good book or enjoy a movie night after a day of hiking. The kitchen is well-equipped, making it easy to prepare meals with fresh, local ingredients from nearby markets. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, adorned with soft linens and cozy throws. Waking up in such a serene environment was a luxury, and each morning felt like a refreshing retreat. The host was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. They had thoughtfully prepared a welcome basket filled with slippers for the hot tub and robes to wear, they also had treats for the dog in a jar with his name on it which was a delightful touch. The level of detail and care put into the stay truly made a difference. Overall, our experience at this beautiful cottage near the Peak District was nothing short of magical. Whether youâre looking to escape for a romantic getaway, or a solo retreat, this cottage has it all. I cannot recommend it highly enough â itâs a perfect blend of comfort, beauty, and adventure. We left feeling recharged and inspired, already planning our next visit!
