This pretty, detached, traditional stone cottage is set in a lovely location in the village of Winster, in the beautiful Derbyshire Peak District. Enjoying countryside and village views, this Winster cottage is perfect for couples or small families, with two lovely bedrooms featuring exposed beams. There is a delightful sitting room with a woodburning stove, and a kitchen, dining room, and useful boot room leading outside to the pretty cottage garden. Providing far-reaching views over the village towards the hills and valleys beyond, the little garden has a raised patio, the perfect place for planning the next days adventures over a meal and a drink. The conservation village of Winster has a well-stocked, community-owned village shop, a café, and two excellent pubs, while a lovely children's playground and the 17th century, National Trust owned Market House, are just a short walk away. Matlock, Bakewell and Chatsworth House are close by, and walks into the wonderful countryside start right from the doorstep! For the more adventurous, Carsington Water, with its many activities, is only nine miles away, and Castleton, with its impressive caves, only 40 minutes away. This Winster cottage is an excellent base for a wonderful Peak District holiday, all year round.
With an impressive 17th century market house at its centre, the conservation village of Winster is situated within the Peak District National Park. This extremely pretty location is mostly composed of three main streets - Main Street, East Bank and West Bank boasting imposing 18th Century farm houses, nearly all of which are at least three storeys tall. Off the main street visitors can find the slightly less grand though equally fascinating 'ginnels', or alleyways. The village still holds a number of traditional events throughout the year, such as a pancake race every Shrove Tuesday and the annual Wakes festivities which take place in June, as well as events hosted by the local Morris dancers. The village boasts plenty of essential amenities too - a post office/gift shop, a well stocked grocer's shop and two pubs both serving food and local traditional beers.

I chose to park in the village and walk up the hill (a pleasant 10min walk). Clear instruction on how to use the appliances inside the cottage, lots of leaflets on places to visit. Central to the most popular tourist spots, public transport easily accessible
