The family bathroom is a real highlight, featuring a splendid corner bath and a separate walk-in shower giving guests the choice between a soak in the tub or a steamy rinse after their adventures. For those looking to explore the local area, you'll be spoilt for choice. Discover the natural beauty of the National Trust's Padley Gorge, famous for its deciduous woodland and striking photographic setting. For the more adventurous, try your hand at climbing or take a leisurely walk along the Bamford Edge; the panoramic views from the top are breathtaking. Culture enthusiasts should visit the David Mellor Design Museum, and indulge in some retail therapy at the Eyam Hall Craft Centre featuring a plethora of artisan crafts and local talents. Don't miss the historical Millstones at Stanage Edge, providing a glimpse into the area's industrial past. Chatsworth House, home of Duke and Duchess of Cornwall is within close proximity to Whim Cottage and there is a Peak District hop on hop off open top double decker bus that can take you to Chatsworth House and many other places of interest; Whim Cottage is adjoining Whim woods and from there access to interesting walks to Owler Tor, Burbage Brook and Stanage Edge. Venture further afield to the National Trust's Longshaw, Burbage, and the Eastern Moors, and bask in the beauty of these scenic landscapes that are brimming with wildlife. After a day of exploration, reward yourself with a sumptuous meal at The Plough Inn, an establishment known for its fine ales and heart-warming local dishes. At the end of the day, return to the comfort of Whim Cottage, your peaceful haven in the heart of Derbyshire.

The attractive village of Hathersage (‘Heathers Edge’) is situated within the Peak District National Park at the beginning of the Hope Valley and close to excellent walking at Edale. Many visitors come to Hathersage to visit the churchyard and the grave of “Little John” (of Robin Hood fame) - whether he ever really existed is for you to decide! Charlotte Bronte’s famous novel Jane Eyre is thought to have been inspired by her visit to Hathersage vicarage in 1845. For a village of its size there is a very good selection of shops, pubs and places to eat, as well as a public, open air heated swimming pool and railway station. A great centre for exploring the Peak District!
