Guests say

Littlecote offers superb views over the Thames and has potential as a holiday cottage. However, guests have reported several maintenance issues and a lack of information on the property's amenities. The property's state suggests it has not been regularly inspected, and some guests have experienced difficulties with cleanliness and security.

Guests have reported black mould, a smell of mould in the large bedroom, high grass, weeds, and a general sense of neglect. One review mentioned a possible rodent sighting, indicating significant cleanliness issues.

While the reviews mention superb views, there is insufficient information to accurately assess the location's overall quality, such as proximity to local attractions or the general desirability of the area.

Guests have reported issues with sleeping comfort due to small bedding and holes in sheets. The presence of mould and lack of hot water for showers also detract from the overall comfort.

Multiple reviews cite problems with maintenance, including broken appliances, gates that are not secure, and a non-functional hot tub. The lack of information on how to use the facilities further impacts this score.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness from the property owner. Therefore, this category cannot be scored.

There are a number of maintenance issues and someone needs to check what it is missing in order to make a comfortable stay.

It didn't feel like a holiday cottage. There was no information on anything and the information we received about access was out of date. Our arrival was very stressful as the code to open the gate would not work. We were two families with four young children who were tired and needed the toilet. We had to climb over the gate to access the key box to access the front door. Then we realised the gate wasnt electric! This delayed our access by half an hour and led to stressful phone calls to sykes out of hours as it was late at night. On the first night we saw what we thought was a mouse downstairs but it could have been a rat as we saw a rat in the garden. The house should not be listed as four stars. It's tired and neglected. Missing light bulb, poorly draining showers, missing kick plates, wonky cupboards, broken plug hole, poorly patched up holes in door, and not enough hot water for two showers let alone two families (with no information about how to turn on the hot water). It felt more like a short stay air B&B than a holiday cottage. We weren't comfortable and we think the listing was completely misrepresented. We always choose five star cottages for comfort but picked this one for space and location thinking the photos looked nice and a four star rating would be comfortable. The photos are very old. I can imagine this being a nice property ten years ago but it's been neglected. We came home from our holiday early as we couldn't relax here. Huge shame and would not recommend.

The views over looking the Thames were superb. The grass was 9” high and all paths full of weeds. No secure gates at front or sides. No information on appliances, kitchen blind broken, therefore no privacy. No table mats and a very sticky dining table. Some kitchen cupboard doors badly fitted. Under stairs cupboard door broken hinge. New light bulbs needed in several rooms. Main bedroom en-suite, toilet seat not fitted properly, ceiling with black mould, centre light full of dead flies. Door on double bedroom damaged and roughly filled. TV in twin bedroom no working remote. We feel that some sort of refund would be in order as the property was not as advertised. Littlecote has obviously not been inspected by Sykes on a regular basis. Such a shame as we would have loved to return to Littlecote and recommended it to family and friends.
