Guests say

Chyrosen is a spacious and welcoming cottage in Cornwall, praised for its cleanliness, comfortable beds, and large garden. The property is well-situated for exploring Cornwall's attractions. Guests appreciated the attentive host and thoughtful touches like cupcakes and festive decorations. Some noted a lack of utensils and minor maintenance issues, but overall the property provided a pleasant stay for families and large groups.

The property generally received positive remarks for cleanliness, with guests finding it clean and well-maintained. However, there were isolated comments about unpleasant smells from bedding and a dirty tea towel, which slightly affected the score.

The location is highly praised for being great for exploring both the north and south Cornish coasts, with most attractions within a 30-50 minute drive. The central location contributed to a high score.

Guests found the beds super comfy and the property spacious, suitable for large parties. Some concerns were raised about the size of a double bed and the absence of an upstairs bathroom, which slightly impacted the comfort score.

The property was appreciated for its large garden and parking space. However, guests mentioned a lack of kitchen utensils, poor condition of some cookware, and the need for an external line for drying clothes, indicating room for improvement in facilities and maintenance.

The host's thoughtfulness was noted with welcome gestures like cupcakes, mince pies, and a Christmas tree. While these gifts were well-received, it is politely noted that such personal touches are not guaranteed with every stay.

About this property

Set in the village of Crofthandy just paces away from St Day for your amenities, is this stunning holiday home, Chyrosen. On arrival, you will find ample off-road parking before stepping inside to discover the contemporary kitchen with cream glossy units. The kitchen houses everything you need for a self-catered stay with an electric oven and hob to whip up heart-warming meals. For those fuss-free cleans, the property also offers a dishwasher, along with a washing machine and tumble dryer, which can be found in the utility room. Moving through the property, locate the living/dining room, where you can unwind in front of the woodburning stove on the corner sofa as the TV plays your favourite shows. Mealtimes can be savoured together at the dining table; afterwards, continue the conversation onto the sprawling garden with a cold beverage. As the evening cools, retire inside and those with limited mobility can snuggle up in the ground-floor bedrooms, with a small double and a single to choose from. The bright and airy ground-floor bedrooms are also serviced by a shower room for convenience. Venture upstairs to find four more bedrooms on the first floor, including a king size with a TV, one more king, a double and a single bedroom, all with ample storage. Awaken tired eyes in the family bathroom with a soothing soak in the tub or a quick wash under the overhead shower. A short stroll will lead you to the village of St Day, home to a convenience store for when you need to pick up the essentials and the welcoming local pubs, the St Day Inn and the Star Inn. A scenic drive will lead you to Truro, known for its Gothic cathedral, incredible gardens, and its lively Celtic culture. The city is also home to the famous Celtic Tossers, an axe-throwing competition that attracts tourists from all over the world. If you're looking for a charming and creative seaside town to explore, look no further than St Ives. This little town is located on the picturesque coast of Cornwall and hosts a harbour, lovely beaches, and tasty seafood. St Day was named after a little-known saint named Day or Dye (better known in Brittany). The village presently features a pub and a convenience shop, as well as a granite gothic-style church from 1828. The beautiful village of Portreath is six miles away, and its wild and rugged coastline attracts visitors from all over the world. The area is characterised by high cliffs, quiet coves, and sandy, surf-washed beaches, with evidence of the area's strong industrial background all around. Portreath has a tiny fishing harbour, shops, a few pubs, three cafés, and a Chinese restaurant, in addition to its safe, sheltered sandy beach.

Its so lovely and comfy. The bedrooms were suitable for the families. We had a great time. Just wishing we have more pots to cook from but overall we had a great stay. Vanessa is easy to approach and replying to our queries. Till next time!

Only 1 baking tray which was very well used. We went and bought a 3 pack in Tesco for £4. Frying pan also poor condition and only 1. Although indoor airer for clothes no external line found. Which would have been useful for wetsuits and washing. Bedrooms very comfy and spacious and furniture very new. Downstairs small double bed, room large so shame it wasn’t a double or king size. Great outside space in garden and parking. Location was brilliant for seeing lots of Cornwall. Just fyi incase the owner is unaware there is a lot of dog barking from a neighbouring location which if at the property for long periods would probably be very annoying.

I have holidayed with Sykes for many years and found this and other properties as described and clean and would highly recommend staying. Chyrosen was ideal for the nine of us and extra bathroom on ensuite fitted upstairs would vastly improve this dwelling. But location was brilliant half hour from coastline 10minutes from Cornish oven factory by far the best pasties going. Very pleased with stay this year. Thank you kindly Keith Williams
