Open the front door to this timber-clad lodge which nestles within wooded hotel grounds to find all your inviting bedrooms and the bathrooms at ground-floor level. Choose between the sumptuous super-king-size, which can also be set up as a twin room, if discussed at booking, a double and a twin. There is also an en-suite bathroom and a family bathroom. The living space, a gorgeous, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner is on the floor above, where it features glass doors at one end onto your balcony. Gather in here after your days out to cook, dine or watch TV together. Spill out onto the balcony as the sun sets over your leafy surroundings. Outside, explore the mature, parkland estate and follow scenic footpaths through the trees.

Follow the 3.5-mile Pentewan Trail from the woods just outside the grounds down to the beach at Pentewan. This follows the route of an old railway line and passes along riverbanks and is close to spots where pups and people can paddle. Venture 2 miles to Porthpean to pick up the South West Coast Path and follow it for 3.5 miles to Pentewan. Have a day out to the magical Lost Gardens of Heligan, 4 miles away.
