Guests say

The Haven in Daymer Bay is a spacious and comfortable property with beautiful views and a large garden, ideal for family gatherings. Its location is perfect for beach access and local walks. While guests appreciate the ample space and the property's character, some noted that the house and its facilities could benefit from updates and better maintenance.

Reviews generally describe the property as clean and tidy, with specific praise for its spotlessness upon arrival. However, some guests noted areas that require more thorough cleaning, such as kitchen utensils and shower trays, which slightly lowers the score.

The property's location is highly praised for its easy access to the beach and beautiful views of the coast and golf course. Its proximity to local attractions like Polzeath and Rock adds to its appeal.

Guests find the beds very comfortable and the house spacious, contributing to a pleasant stay. Some concerns about draughty windows and the need for a mop suggest room for improvement in ensuring complete comfort.

The property is well-equipped for entertainment with a media room and offers ample bathrooms. However, guests reported maintenance issues such as non-working lights and appliances, and a lack of basic equipment like serving dishes, which affects the score.

There is no mention of gifts or special thoughtful touches provided by the hosts in the reviews, so it is not possible to assess this category.

About this property

The Haven is a wonderful holiday home in Trebetherick, conveniently located adjacent to a beach footpath heading to North Cornwall’s beautiful Daymer Bay. Set over three floors, this elegant property comfortably sleeps 12 guests in six plush bedrooms, offering spacious, high-quality living, where guests can switch off and relax on holiday. True to its name, the property really is a haven for an extended family holiday, with features to suit all ages.

Step into the spacious hallway that invites you into the beautiful light and bright kitchen, equipped to cater to even the most experienced of chefs’ needs. Large doors open out into an open-plan dining and sitting room where an open fireplace takes centre stage, and light floods through from the adjacent sunny conservatory.

The perfect spot to come together with family, the large conservatory not only offers plush seating but also features a ping pong tale for some post-dinner evening entertainment. Alternatively, head into the media and TV room for a snug movie night, perfect for rainy days – the property really does have a solution for all weathers!

Five bedrooms reside on the first floor, including a master en-suite bedroom, as well as a family bathroom and shower room. Additionally, a sixth bedroom and bathroom are located on the second floor, creating a separate space from the main living areas for a couple looking for peace and quiet to hunker down and rest – which is especially needed after long days at the beach or exploring the stunning coast path.

When on holiday to the coast, there really isn’t anything quite like taking in the fresh sea air and making the most of the great outdoors, and the exquisite, sheltered patio and garden provides a relaxing oasis for all ages to relish in that holiday feeling. With ample space to play family games, lounge on the outdoor sofa and dine alfresco, the garden is a superb spot for all the family. There is even a very useful outdoor shower, convenient for post beach trips, to wash off sandy paws, toes and beach gear!

With private parking, you can easily drive to nearby chocolate box towns and villages, should you wish, but with so much to see and do from your doorstep you can happily explore the local area on foot if you prefer. A small footpath leads you to Daymer Bay, or head further along the coast path to visit the popular cosmopolitan destination of Rock and the small beachside village of Polzeath.

The Haven lives up to its name, providing a wonderful retreat for an extended family to relish in coastal life and explore the best of North Cornwall at any time of year.

Daymer Bay and the village of Trebetherick were both loved by Sir John Betjeman and are unquestionably special. With a huge appeal to both the young and not so young, Daymer Bay has recently been voted one of the best beaches in the world! St. Enodoc Church, once buried in the sand, is within comfortable walking distance of Daymer Bay and is the resting place of Sir John Betjeman. Daymer Bay holds great appeal for wind surfers, kite surfers and paddle boarders, with the gentle waves rolling up the estuary. There is enormous fun too for small children with buckets and spades and fishing in the rock pools. At low tide you can walk across the sand to the village of Rock to indulge in a spot of retail therapy or a bite to eat at one of the many delicious eateries, or catch the short ferry ride and explore the delights of Padstow. Up from the coast path as it runs from Daymer Bay is Highcliffe, nestling between Polzeath and Trebetherick, both of which boast a number of pubs, restaurants and village stores all offering a wide variety of fresh quality produce. The properties at Highcliffe have the advantage of being within easy reach of Daymer, Polzeath and Greenaway - Greenaway being the name given to the clifftop area, beach and small cove with rock pools overlooking the Atlantic beyond that lies between Daymer and Polzeath.

I liked the location and the fact that there are a number of walks available straight from the property without having to take a car although if you are taking small children to the beach in Polzeath you will probably need to drive there as the hill is very steep. It is a beautiful area with a number of lovely places to visit e.g. Rock, Padstow, Port Isaac and Tintagel. We did have one concern about the oil boiler in the utility room which smelt very strongly of oil despite a visit or possibly 2 from a heating engineer. You couldn’t leave dogs overnight in there.

Large airy rooms and full of space and character. Very good if you’re a large group. Plenty of bathrooms. Relaxing and fun. Brilliant position as well. Massive garden.
