About this property

Trewella is a marvellous, coastal retreat tucked away at the end of a private lane, roughly 100 yards from the sandy beach of Daymer Bay, Cornwall. Deceptively spacious and well-furnished with homely touches, creating a relaxed and easy atmosphere, Trewella makes a wonderful base for a family of eight, looking for a memorable, Cornish getaway. Complete with an enclosed, sunny garden with a useful decked terrace, guests can enjoy the outdoors, taking in the fresh, sea air, just a stone’s throw from the coastline. The ground floor comprises of a bright and welcoming kitchen/dining room with doors that open onto the decked terrace, a handy utility room, and a sitting room with doors also opening onto the terrace. There are two bedrooms; one with a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom, and a twin bedroom, plus a separate shower/WC. On the first floor you'll find two more bedrooms; one king-size bedroom with en-suite shower/bathroom, and a bunk room with an additional single bed for flexibility; young children will really enjoy sleeping over, together, and remember bunking up with cousins or friends during their holiday. Daymer Bay is an idyllic sanctuary for swimming, paddling, and fishing in the delightful rock pools, or safely venturing into the calm, shallow waters that glide in and out of the bay. For action-packed surf and rideable waves, surfers can head less than a mile away to Polzeath, to hire boards or wetsuits from the numerous beach shops or sign up for surf tuition at the surf schools that are based in the village. Walkers with their dogs can make the most of the glorious views from the coastal paths and head up to the magnificent Pentire Point looking out for gannets or seals along the way. With so much on offer, book your next stay at Trewella.

Rock is a desirable and much sought after coastal village located on the north eastern bank of the River Camel opposite the famous harbour town of Padstow which is easily reached by a regular ferry service. The summer home of royalty and celebrities offering top class restaurants and quality shops, the real draw is the array of watersports including sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and angling. Continuing on a sporting theme, the golf course at nearby St Enodoc is considered to be one of the best in the country. With an abundance of world class beaches all within a short radius it is easy to see why Rock holds its popularity.

However, the whole house needs painting and updating...or at the very least needs a good clean inside and out. Not sure that white carpet is the best choice for a holiday let, and it seems to have seen better days. Bathrooms could do with updating (moldy tiles, sloping sink, etc) as could the sofa in Kitchen (threadbare). The photos on the John Bray website give a much fresher or newer impression than the current state of the property and that is deceptive. The gutters were leaking. The outside lights and umbrella over wooden table were covered in algae. No instructions on how to use TV, dishwasher, washing machine, etc. We couldn't find a hairdryer anywhere in Trewella which is surprising in any rental these days.

A few suggestions No instructions on how to use TV, central heating etc. No mattress cover on one bed Bathrooms could do with updating, as could bedroom carpets. We were very disappointed with service from John Bray, as they were very slow to respond to requests and some requests remain unanswered

We have stayed at Trewella three times now and have already booked again for 2023. Excellent location for the beach, great walks and to Rock and Polzeath and beyond. Daymer Bay beach is perfect for young grandchildren. Could do with a few new spot light bulbs in the kitchen area and please next year may we have a broom, otherwise, love it.
