Guests say

Belmont is a well-equipped cottage with quality appliances and a central location in Rock, Cornwall. Guests appreciate the property's potential and the home-from-home experience it provides. However, some concerns about cleanliness, maintenance, and a musty smell have been noted.

Cleanliness is generally good inside the house, but issues with dirty windows, garden neglect, and a musty smell have been reported. One guest mentioned dirty dishes and cutlery upon arrival, which was addressed by the management.

The location is highly praised for being central and perfect for guests' requirements, contributing to a brilliant stay.

The property offers a comfortable stay with a home-from-home feel, but guests have mentioned small beds, worn-out mattresses, and a need for better acoustics in the lounge.

The property boasts quality kitchen utensils and appliances. However, there are reports of non-working lights, an extractor fan, and issues with doors and televisions. The presence of a sauna is a plus, but instructions for use were not clear.

There is no mention of gifts or special touches that would indicate thoughtfulness. The absence of basic provisions and clear instructions for facilities like the sauna suggests a lack of attention to guest convenience.

Lovely garden area with a BBQ. We would definitely return.

What is disappointing is the condition of the property – it’s dated and in need of investment all around. It is not of the standard that could justify the price. While cleanliness inside the house was good there are a few areas that are not satisfactory - windows in particular are very dirty and garden is neglected (overgrown, rotten apples on the floor, dirty furniture, cracked tiles etc). The house inside, despite being clean, has an unpleasant smell (damp?) which is very prominent as you walk in, gets less so later. The beds are small and while in the master bedroom the bed was ok other guests complained of mattresses being worn out. Two more things affected us but the first one we knew about in advance, and the second was just unfortunate I guess. 1- the policy of no bedding/towels or any provisions (shower gel, shampoo, washing tablets) or food (even basics like salt/pepper). It feels more appropriate for a bottom of the range places where every penny counts, not suitable for a property in this price bracket. Somehow takes away any feeling of welcome/convenience for guests. 2-there was some building work going on during 2 days on both properties (bottom of the garden and to the right). This was generating noise and dust.

There are eight lights not working in the sitting room, the extractor fan in the bathroom no longer works. There are numerous large cracks in the walls and ceiling, in several rooms. There is a constant musty, damp, off putting bad smell throughout the house, unless the doors or windows are left open, as soon as a room is shut up, it returns. This property is perfectly placed in the town for all requirements, but it is unloved both in the building and garden, which is a huge shame, it has great potential.
