Set back within a sleepy cluster of cottages in the picturesque village of Uffculme, Pumphouse Cottage is a fabulous dwelling at the heart of the Devon countryside, offering a wonderful home-away-from-home for a family or group of five. Exuding character and charm through many rustic features such as exposed brick walls and rustic wood beams, this pleasant abode adds a touch of luxury to any self-catering stay. Be welcomed into an attractive sitting room hosting two plush leather sofas, a welcoming electric woodburner-style stove and an impressive Smart TV with Blu-ray and DVD player, perfect for those relaxing evenings spent snuggled up indoors. A few steps away lies a chic navy kitchen featuring a striking Belfast sink and sleek appliances such as a double electric oven with gas hob, a spacious fridge/freezer and a dishwasher, which, along with the stylish dining area providing the ultimate space to cook and enjoy delicious meals throughout your stay. The back door can be found leading out into a gorgeous courtyard with a large rustic style dining set, able to seat up to ten people, and steps up to an additional seating area, where you can bask in the sunshine on a warm summer's day and indulge in a lovingly prepared lunch alfresco. A lovely herb garden is present as well and the wonderful addition of a warm-water dog shower will let you pamper your pet after the walks in the countryside. Back inside, a well-designed cloakroom (with washing machine) completes the ground floor, whilst up on the first floor, a contemporary tiled bathroom with muted grey hues provides ample opportunity to relax and unwind with a soak in the large tub or take your time to get ready for the day with a refreshing rinse with the overhead shower. The first floor also boasts three restful bedrooms made up of a king sized double bed, a twin and a single, each complete with plenty of storage space and an inviting armchair, where you can escape the excitement for an hour or two as you delight in your favourite book. The twin bedroom also benefits from zip/link, giving the option of a superking-size instead! See the very best that the area has to offer with tours of the local museum of Coldharbour Mill, or an afternoon spent exploring the Gothic Victorian dwelling of Knightshayes Court, now owned by the National Trust. Set about on a scenic journey through the countryside on the traditional steam trains of the Devon Railway Centre, or see the sights by foot with an exhilarating hike through Buzzard's Woodlands. Meet the exotic residents of Yarak Birds of Prey on an animal encounter like never before, or venture into the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and spot Culmstock Beacon and the pretty chapel that rests just below. Escape to the ancient city of Exeter and admire the incredible architecture of the medieval cathedral, before wandering alongside the River Exe to the captivating Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery.     Helpful hosts and loved the beautiful cake and Prosecco. Great location for so many great days out … Lyme Regis, Sidmouth, Exmouth, Dawlish, Dunster. Many National trust properties nearby .. don’t miss A La Ronde, Dunster Castle, Knightshayes The kitchen has all the equipment you could need. The beds are so comfy. Delightful community setting and lots of local walks to Coldharbour Wool Mill and Bridwell Park … try out The Orangery pop up cafe. I expect the will be back very soon x
